Old town is a charming, historic neighborhood, which is considered to be the birthplace of California. It’s one of the best attractions in San Diego and allows visitors to take a step into the Mexican-American period of the mid-1800s. Here are the spots you cannot miss.

The Whaley House Museum

The Whaley House Museum is 160 years old and you can walk through and take a peek into each restored room. It’s rumored to be haunted and, at night, haunted guided tours are available for booking as well.

Casa de Estudillo

This home has been restored with vintage furnishings to illustrate how people used to live 150 years ago. There is a beautiful garden and you can often see actors in vintage dress wondering around performing period tasks.

Presidio Park

If you’re a nature fan, take a walk in Presidio Park. There are some lovely trails, and you can enjoy a gorgeous view of San Diego from the peak.

Casa de Reyes

Finally, head to the open-air restaurant in the central square. Here, you can enjoy Mexican-American food including all-time favorites like burritos and fajitas. Every guest is treated to complimentary chips and salsa and the colorful setting of the restaurant itself make it worth a visit.
