Tbilisi, the charming Georgian capital has layers upon layers of secrets to uncover. While tourists crowd the cable cars and famous cheese bread cafes, there’s a whole other side to the city that most guidebooks don’t mention. Ready to explore the road less traveled in one of Europe’s most intriguing cities? Let’s jump in.

Fabrika’s Hidden Courtyard

While many visitors know Fabrika as Tbilisi’s famous hostel and creative hub, few discover the secret courtyard tucked away behind its main building. This urban oasis is home to local artists’ studios and tiny boutiques showcasing Georgian designers. Visit in the late afternoon when the fairy lights come on, and you’ll find yourself in a magical space where young creatives gather over wine and live music.

The Dezerter Bazaar’s Tea Room

Everyone talks about the Dezerter Bazaar, but hidden among the fruit stalls and spice vendors is a tiny, unmarked tea room where Tbilisi’s older generation gathers. The owner, who everyone calls Grandmother Tea, has been brewing her special blend of Georgian and Persian teas for over four decades.

The Chronicle of Georgia

Often called “Georgia’s Stonehenge” this striking monument overlooks the Tbilisi Sea. It was created by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. This Soviet-era masterpiece features towering pillars adorned with scenes from Georgian history and Christian stories. Despite its grandeur, it remains surprisingly uncrowded!

Staying at a hostel dorm isn’t always a comfortable experience, but you can make things better by asking the hostel staff for a bunk that suits your taste. Both the top and bottom bunk have their pros and cons that you should take into consideration before making the final decisions.

Bottom Bunk: Pros

Most people prefer the lower bunk because it’s easily accessible since you don’t have to climb up and down every time you want to reach your bed. It’s also much easier to access your belongings, especially if you have enough room under the bed to store them.

Bottom Bunk: Cons

Bottom bunks can feel less private than the top bunks, especially if there are no privacy curtains available. They’re also not a great pick if you’re a light sleeper because the person in the top bunk might disturb you with their movements.

Top Bunk: Pros

Privacy is one of the main benefits of the top bunk because you won’t be in the direct line of sight to other people in the dorm. You’ll also feel less cramped when sitting up because top bunks usually provide more space.

Top Bunk: Cons

If you’re not fond of heights and dread the thought of climbing up and down every time you want to reach your bed, make sure to ask hostel staff for a lower bunk in advance.

Sustainable travel has come a long way in recent years—eco-friendly hotels are popping up left and right, and many major cities are choosing to devote more resources to improving public transportation. As much as we appreciate these initiatives as travelers, it’s also important to recognize that consumer demand is what drives them in the first place. If we wish to see a more sustainable future, we need to be willing to create a more sustainable present. Read on to learn more about some simple, yet effective ways to be a more eco-conscious traveler.

Stay Somewhere Sustainable

Like we said, the more people opt for eco-friendly accommodations, the greater the demand for such places becomes. New sustainable establishments begin to open up, and existing businesses take note of this shift and may switch to more responsible practices. When planning your trip, choose accommodations that use energy-efficient technologies, manage waste responsibly, and support local conservation efforts. If it falls within your budget, consider staying in a small, locally-owned B&B, as they tend to have a lower environmental impact than large chain hotels.

Use Responsible Transportation

Transportation is one of the greatest contributors to carbon emissions within the travel industry. To minimize your impact, try to get around using public transportation, biking, or walking whenever you can. For trips that require a flight, stick with economy seating on airlines that invest in sustainable practices like incorporating more fuel-efficient planes into their fleets.

Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle

In terms of pollution, it’s been said that plastic is the new coal, and single-use plastics in particular are a major problem in many popular tourist destinations. Ditch the disposables and prioritize reusable alternatives by carrying a refillable water bottle, reusable shopping bag, and eco-friendly utensils. If you do need to use plastic, follow local recycling practices as much as possible.

Taormina is one of Sicily’s most picturesque towns, and you’ll have an abundance of amazing attractions to explore during your visit. If you’re not sure where to start, we’re bringing you five spots you shouldn’t miss for the world while exploring this stunning pearl of the Ionian Sea.

Teatro Antico

Many Sicilian towns are home to ancient Greco-Roman ruins, but none of them compare to this ancient theatre, which will transport you back into the past, while you enjoy the breathtaking views of Mount Etna.

Corso Umberto

Corso Umberto is one of Taormina’s busiest streets, and you’ll stumble upon some of the city’s top attractions during your stroll, including the historic medieval cathedral Duomo di Taormina.

Madonna Della Rocca

Speaking of show-stopping churches you can visit in Taormina, Madonna della Rocca is built into a rock, and it’s worth visiting for its scenic views alone.

Villa Comunale

If you’re looking for a place where you can sit back and relax during a long day of exploring Taormina, take a moment to check the landscaped gardens of Villa Comunale and enjoy amazing views of the city.

Isola Bella

Taormina is also home to one of the most stunning beaches in all of Sicily, Isola Bella, named after the tiny island that’s connected to the main beach by a narrow path that you can easily cross on foot.

Ready for a road trip through the Midwest? Well, make sure you bring your appetite along! Here are five quintessential Midwestern foods that you must try to make your trip unforgettable.

Chicago Deep-Dish Pizza, Illinois

This iconic dish, characterized by its high, flaky crust and generous layers of cheese, toppings, and sauce, is a true representation of Chicago’s rich culinary heritage.

Juicy Lucy, Minnesota

The Juicy Lucy is a delicious twist on the classic American cheeseburger and a must-try in Minnesota. What sets it apart is the cheese, which is stuffed inside the meat patty instead of being placed on top.

Detroit-Style Coney Dogs, Michigan

A Detroit-style Coney Dog consists of a beef hot dog nestled in a soft bun, smothered in a savory meat sauce, and topped with yellow mustard and chopped onions. Yum!

Buckeyes, Ohio

Named after the nut from the state’s official tree, these treats are made from a smooth, creamy peanut butter mixture dipped in chocolate, leaving a small circle of peanut butter exposed.

Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, Indiana

The pork tenderloin sandwich is something of an Indiana institution. This simple yet satisfying dish features a breaded and fried pork cutlet. It’s crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and utterly delicious.

Larnaca isn’t as popular as Ayia Napa or Paphos with the tourists visiting Cyprus, but it certainly has its perks. Here are five reasons why you shouldn’t miss this charming city while exploring this beautiful island country.

Easy Access

Larnaca is home to Cyprus’ busiest airports and chances are you’ll find yourself here even if it’s not your final destination – so why not stick around for a day or two before exploring the rest of the island?

Beautiful Beaches

Like every coastal city in Cyprus, Larnaca is home to many beautiful beaches, offering a wide range of activities, from sunbathing to water sports. Finikoudes Beach is the most popular of them all, but Mackenzie Beach and Kastella Beach are also worth checking out.

Relaxing Vibe

Despite being one of Cyprus’ largest cities, Larnaca has a much more relaxing vibe than its other tourist hubs, and it’s a great place to go for leisurely strolls, explore local markets, and amazing food scenes.

Rich History

Larnaca will also win you over with its rich history and culture, and it’s home to several spots where you can explore them, from the Church of Saint Lazarus to the Larnaka Medieval Fort.

Amazing Nature

Beaches aren’t the only natural wonder you’ll get to enjoy in Larnaca, especially if you decide to check out the Larnaca Salt Lake, which attracts migratory flamingos to its shores during colder seasons.

Finding a great place to eat in another country usually isn’t too hard. You can check out the reviews online, get through some “best of “articles, and get a pretty good idea of the spots you should be visiting and ones to avoid.

However, if you want to ensure that the food will be awesome and you end up with a full belly, you are better off using some of these creative tips.

Follow the Crowd During Lunch Break

One of the best ways to get a feel of great places to eat is to follow the crowd during lunch break. If you are walking the street around noon and see a food joint packed up with a diverse crowd of customers, you should check it out. The locals who work nearby probably eat there all the time and never get bored of that food, meaning it has to be special.

Use the Power of Social Media

Social media is another great way to find amazing eats. Use TikTok and Instagram to follow local food content creators and see where common social media users there like to eat. As a bonus, you will get a feel of the place and see what the food looks like thanks to pictures and videos.

Ask for Recommendations

Do you have a friend or a member of the family who has already visited? Ask them for recommendations. Alternatively, chat with the locals and get their opinions. If multiple people recommend the same place, it has to be good. This is also a great way to find hidden gems.

Isola Bella

In Mexico City, tacos are a way of life. From street stands to sit-down restaurants, the city is brimming with taco options that can make choosing overwhelming. Join us as we explore the crème de la crème of CDMX’s taco scene, where tradition meets innovation in the most delectable ways.

El Huequito: The Taco Institution

Established in 1959, El Huequito has been serving up some of the best tacos al pastor in the city for decades. Their secret lies in the perfect balance of marinated pork, pineapple, and handmade tortillas. Don’t miss their signature green sauce, which adds an extra kick to every bite.

Los Cocuyos: Late-Night Taco Heaven

For those midnight cravings, Los Cocuyos is the place to be. Open 24/7, this small stand in the historic center offers a variety of meat options, including suadero, tripa, and lengua. The long lines are a testament to their popularity and quality.

Taquería Orinoco: Norteño-Style Tacos

If you’re in the mood for northern Mexican flavors, head to Taquería Orinoco. Their specialty is the taco de chicharrón de queso, a crispy cheese shell filled with your choice of meat. The flour tortillas and grilled meats are a delightful change from the typical CDMX taco scene.
