]]>First of all, it’s important to understand that the cliches are that for a reason. They represent popular or obvious poses that many people enjoy, which is what turned them into cliches. However, if you don’t want to be a subject on yet another photo of a person leaning against a Tower of Pisa, you’re going to get more creative.
Travel photographer Ryan Salm explains why cliches are so popular. “By falling in line you don’t have to take a chance at being original, and that seems to make people feel good,” he says. Photography cliches are an easy way to make, pretty, even artistic photos without putting a lot of thought and effort into them, which is why many people go with them.
Some of the most common cliches include posing with a leaf in fall, feet or head sticking out the vehicle window, the open tent, camping by the water, posing in a sunflower field, and many more.
It’s important to be aware of them if you want to avoid them. Think about how you can see a certain place from a new perspective that hasn’t been explored yet.

]]>When you travel by car, Google Maps allows great navigation but it’s not really suited for biking. The new feature that was announced will show all of the important details along the chosen route with optional turn-by-turn navigation. The new model also takes into consideration the fact that cyclists can’t really look at their phones all the time.
With the lite navigation, you’ll be able to see an overview of the route, the current ETA, and any changes in elevation along the way. The notifications will show you the destination, the estimated time to arrive there, and you can also share a trip with someone. “At a glance, you can track your trip progress, see your ETA updates in real-time, and even know the elevation of your route so you can keep your focus where it needs to be—on the road,” reads a Google blog.
This is one of the ways Google is pushing towards sustainability. The company will also start directing drivers down the routes that are more fuel-efficient, which they announced back in May.

]]>The construction of the Western Wall started around 19 BC and a large part of it is underground. The limestone wall consists of 45 stone rows, 17 of which are underground. The largest stone that can be found is 44 feet long and weighs 570 tons.
The term “Wailing Wall” is seen as offensive because many find it derogatory and mocking. The name comes from the past when Jews weren’t allowed in Jerusalem except on the saddest day in their calendar, Tisha B’Av. That’s the day they would cry at the holy places and explains how the wall got this infamous nickname.
Over a million hand-written notes are left on the wall every year. These notes contain prayers, wishes, and messages to God. A Rabbi removes them twice a year and buries them at the nearby Mount of Olives.

Make sure to grab lunch before heading to the 12th-century cathedral and Museo Riso, the art gallery. If you have some extra time, visit Angela Tripi’s famous workshop. Her works from terracotta are famous around the world and this is your chance to learn from the best.

]]>“Shoes on heels look beautiful, I do not argue with that, but feet suffer and swell by the end of the flight. Sneakers are absolutely cool,” Alexandrina Denysenko, a senior flight attendant, told Reuters.
The suits and silk scarfs are made by local brands. Underneath the suit, the flight attendants will wear white t-shirts instead of blouses. Denysenko mentioned that skirts and heels are a bad choice in case of an emergency landing in water and evacuation.
The company realizes that, despite the romanticizing of the flight attendant’s job, they realize it’s physically demanding and unnecessarily difficult for the ladies. Standing on their feet for 12 hours is not pleasant and often leaves long-term consequences.
The company has a plan to launch a new male crew uniform too. A light suit will replace a vest and they will wear a t-shirt instead of a shirt. They will also get Nike sneakers but in black.
The new uniform will be launched on October 22nd.
