Staying at a hotel comes with many perks, but affordability isn’t one of them. You’ll struggle to save money on food because the kitchen is generally not open to guests and restaurant prices tend to be high. You can still try eating on a budget by following these three useful tips.
Free Breakfast
Buffet breakfast is one of the biggest perks of staying at a hotel, and some of them offer them free of charge. Book a hotel that does if you can find one, and make the best out of the first meal of the day by having a big breakfast. Also, take some fruits and snacks to go whenever possible.
Grocery Shopping
Your room most likely comes with a mini fridge, but you should avoid it at all costs. All the things available inside it can be bought at a local supermarket for at least twice less. If you want to eat some snacks and have a drink in between meals, grocery shopping is a much better option than using a hotel mini bar.
Eat Outside
Instead of eating every meal at a hotel, eat outside whenever possible. In addition to being a more affordable alternative since hotel food tends to be overpriced, it will also allow you to immerse in the culinary scene of the country that you’re visiting because you’ll get to try many local specialties.
