One of the most difficult aspects of distance travel is the jet lag we typically experience as a result of flying across time zones. While there’s no substitute for letting your body naturally adjust to the time difference once you’ve arrived at your destination, getting some shuteye on the plane can help.

To make sleep during our flights easier and more comfortable, we always make sure to bring eye masks in our carry-on bags. Some airlines do offer eye masks to passengers for long flights, but we find they’re not usually very comfortable and don’t always fit. If you fly often, it can definitely be worth investing in one of your own. Here are some of our favorites:

Manta Sleep Mask

Manta claims that they’ve made the world’s comfiest 100% blackout mask, and after trying it, we have to agree. It’s made of super soft modal fabric and is completely adjustable to fit any size head, so you can say goodbye to those annoying elastic straps.

Lunya Weighted Sleep Mask

If you’ve ever tried a weighted blanket, you know how comforting the slight pressure they’re designed to provide can be, and weighted eye masks work similarly. This mask is filled with glass beads and can help soothe anxiety so you can get some rest. It’s made from a super soft silk and comes in 3 different colors.

Dreamlight Muse

Tune out your surroundings both visually and audibly with this blackout mask with a built-in Bluetooth player. You can listen to music or even white noise to block out any noisy neighbors without having to figure out how to wear your headphones under your mask. Just be sure to take out the power bank before throwing it in the wash.
