Disgusting Food Museum: Malmö’s Quirkiest Attraction

Sweden is home to many truly strange museums that you can’t find anywhere else in the world, and one of the quirkiest ones is located in Malmö. This city is a home to Disgusting Food Museum – a collection of 80 polarizing foods no one really wants to try.

Despite its funny premise, this museum actually has a higher purpose – learning more about unfamiliar cultures, bridging our differences and embracing something new along the way.

“Disgusting Food Museum invites visitors to explore the world of food and challenge their notions of what is and what isn’t edible. Could changing our ideas of disgust help us embrace the environmentally sustainable foods of the future?” reads the official description on DFM’s website.

The Disgusting Food Museum features a total of 80 strange foods, ranging from maggot-infused cheese from Italy to ammonia-scented shark from Iceland. Visitors are allowed to smell and taste select items if they’re brave enough to explore the unknown and break down their notions of disgust.
