The South American country of Peru is one of our favorite destinations in Latin America. Full of cultural heritage, natural treasures, and dynamic cities, it’s easy to see why this destination has become more and more popular over the years. The Andes Mountains, coincidentally, are one of South America’s most famous treasures and the heart of the Andes can be found here in Peru.

Traversing the central part of the country, the Andes Mountain range contains so much of what makes Peru an intriguing destination.

We’re sure that you have heard of Machu Picchu before, the ancient Incan city which was discovered by explorers and is now one of the most-visited tourist destinations on Earth. This and the Incan cultural marks which have been left in towns and villages in the area is a huge part of the Andes’ draw.

However, let’s not forget about all of the amazing nature that you can find here too! Huascarán National Park in the heart of the Peruvian Andes is a great representation of what you can find here. From glaciers to peaks reaching over 20,000 feet above sea level, experienced hikers can go on their own treks and novices can be led by guides to see alpine lakes, glaciers, and unforgettable sights.

In short, do not pass up the opportunity to be amazed at the Peruvian Andes and all of the ecological and cultural richness they offer up.
