Multi-discipline designer Alison Abbott was born with a passion for travel. A desire to combine her passion for travel with her growing knowledge in the world of sustainability led her to launch Green With Renvy—a blog/brand dedicated to eco-friendly travels.

“Reducing your carbon footprint can come in many forms, and even small steps can have a significant impact,” she writes on her website.

According to Abbott, her goal with her online platform is to inspire others to take a step out of their comfort zone and consider alternative destinations and adventures.

“I think travel makes us all better citizens and helps to open minds,” she shared in an interview with Travel Awaits. “In particular, I enjoy off-the-beaten-path destinations and want to help others learn about unknown destinations.”

Abbott observes that over-tourism is becoming a real problem. “I focus on eco-friendly and responsible travel,” she explains. “With over a billion people traveling, it’s important to know where your dollars are going. A few simple steps can help to make the industry and destinations a lot more sustainable.”

Her posts include guides to Sustainable tourism in Costa Rica and Natural Remedies Using Poison Ivy.

“The last 40 years has seen tourism grow from 189 million people traveling the planet to over one billion,” writes Abbott. “That is an astounding number. By 2030, that number is expected to reach 1.8 billion.”

Her platform serves as a reminder that traveling and tourism should come from a place of mindfulness and empathy. Her message is rather poignant, especially these days.
