Here’s What You Should Keep in Mind When Plotting Layover Times

Price is the first thing we all pay attention to when booking our flights, but layover time can be equally important. You’ll waste a lot of time if it’s too long, but you may end up missing your next flight if you don’t have enough time at your disposal.

Here’s a couple of things you should take into consideration when you’re trying to decide if the layover time for your flight connection is just right.

Layover Airport

Never book a flight with an extremely short layover before checking out airport layout. If you’re having a layover at a small airport you’re familiar with, you can easily make it to your next flight in an hour or less, but that’s rarely the case with crowded airports that are bigger in size.

Flight Information

Learn everything you can about your flight before embarking on your trip. Check if you’re leaving from the same terminal where you landed to figure out how much time it will take you to get from one gate to another.

Airport Formalities

There are times when you can simply head to your next flight after landing, but that’s not always the case. Never book flights with short layovers if you have to check your luggage and go through security again. If you’re going through customs and immigration before your next flight, you’ll usually need more than two hours in between.
