Inside The “Garden of Dreams” In Kathmandu, Nepal

The “Garden of Dreams” was created by Kaiser Musher Rana. In the early 1900s, he ordered the garden be created following his time as a field marshal in the Royal Nepalese Army. When he died, the garden was neglected but since then, it has been restored to its former beauty.

The garden is spread across four acres and was designed to mimic the Edwardian gardens in England. The architect designed the site to contain six pavilions, each of which symbolizes one of the six seasons in Nepal.

Back in its prime, the garden was a remarkable landscape in Nepal. Now, just three pavilions remain and the garden is spread across one acre of land. Still, the garden contains fountains, ponds, and beautiful gardens. It has become a special place for locals and visitors to take some time away from the rest of the world and get introspective.

The Garden of Dreams is open daily from 9am until 10pm. It is located in the heart of Kathmandu and entrance is just Rs. 200 ($1.75).
