When preparing to fly to a random country, there are a lot of factors to take into consideration. In addition to all of the different things, you’re going to pack, what’ll be on your itinerary, and where you’re going to stay, there’s another major issue to consider—how you’ll be able to use your phone while you’re in another country.

No Small Issue

Yes, it’s true that you’re not traveling to another country just to be on your phone all day. However, you’re still going to need it more than ever for mere practical reasons, from finding the right train to take to locating that historical landmark you’ve been aching to see. Make no mistake—you’re going to need some sort of a data plan while you travel, one way or another.

It’s Actually Pretty Easy

Luckily, acquiring a phone plan is actually pretty simple. Countries that get a lot of tourists—even third world countries in Southeast Asia—have stations set up in their airports that offer prepaid phone plans. You can get plans that last up to a month, with data packages that contain super-high gigabyte quantities. In other words, it’s not something you have to worry about, as long as you’re willing to spend a reasonable price.
