St. Albans is a small city located north of London, England. If you’re searching for a break from the bustling streets of London, then this is the place for you.

Time is slow here and you can spend your time intentionally and without the stresses of being in the city. Take an afternoon stroll around Verulamium Park, while feeding the ducks crumbs or perhaps try having a picnic with friends while admiring the medieval cathedral art.

The list of things to do in St. Albans is plentiful, and it’s a great place to explore whether you’re with friends or with family.

Keep an Eye out for the Sunsets

Watching the sunset in the city is a much different experience than watching it from the peak of a mountain or from the park. The beauty of the sun’s warm colors are more vivid in nature without the tops of buildings covering its glory.

Visit Verulamium Park

This park is not to be missed when visiting St. Albans, because of its lush greenery and beautiful lake. It’s a great place to lay down a mat with a few friends, cold beers and crisps. If you’re also seeking some quiet time to finish the rest of your book, then this is the place.

Old Gorhambury House

For your daily dose of architectural history – visit the old Gorhambury House in St. Albans. It’s part of the Elizabethan house and was built in the 1500s. It was even visited by Queen Elizabeth herself. Just make sure to visit it before 5pm, since it closes in the late afternoon, it’s a great second destination after visiting Verulamium Park.
