Italy is one of those places that has something to offer almost any traveler. Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world, Rome is packed with historical sites, and the entire country is full of some of the best food you can eat. Come summer, though, when we’re in the mood for some rest and relaxation, our favorite place to visit is the Italian island of Sardinia. Sardinia has some of the best beaches in Europe to enjoy by day and high-energy bars and clubs to enjoy at night. Here are some of our favorite things to do during summer on the island.

Cala Luna Beach

You can’t go wrong at any of Sardinia’s beaches, but Cala Luna is one of our favorites. It’s secluded enough that it doesn’t get too crowded and visitors are free to sunbathe or swim in its crystal turquoise waters. There are also several small caves that are perfect for exploring.

Costa Smeralda

This town in the northeast region of Sardinia is considered the hub of the island’s nightlife. It’s dotted with bars and dance halls that attract international party-goers and DJs alike. One of our favorites is Phi Beach Club.

Cagliari

If nightlife isn’t your thing but you’re still looking to enjoy more urban areas, spend some time in Sardinia’s capital city of Cagliari. It’s full of shops, restaurants, and architectural landmarks including a 13th-century cathedral.
