]]>Ethiopia is said to be the birthplace of coffee, and Ethiopian coffee is traditionally prepared as part of a ceremony called “buna”. Buna involves roasting green coffee beans over hot coals and then grinding them by hand using a mortar and pestle. The coffee is then brewed in a clay pot called a “jebena” and served with snacks like popcorn or roasted barley.
In Vietnam, coffee is often brewed with sweetened condensed milk and served over ice. This deliciously sweet and creamy coffee is known as “cà phê sữa nóng” and is a popular beverage during the hot summer months. A hot version prepared with egg yolks is also enjoyed throughout the year.
Turkish coffee is traditionally prepared using a special copper or brass pot called a “cezve”. ]]>One of the tastiest coffee drinks is undoubtedly a cappuccino. Made with equal amounts of espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam, this drink is just about perfect when made well. It’s not too strong, but not too weak—making it the perfect way to enjoy a cup of coffee. As long as you drink it at the right time.
Italians love their cappuccinos, but it is strictly a morning coffee. If you want to enjoy a cappuccino in Italy, make sure you either order it before or during your breakfast, or else you’ll risk the disapproving look of the barista or server! In fact, Italians don’t drink any milky coffee after around 11am, because it’s considered too heavy–especially after a meal!

]]>Go to any cafe in Israel, and if you order an iced coffee they will hand you what looks like a brown slushy. No, they didn’t get your order wrong. This is really their version of iced coffee, or “ice cafe” as they call it. Before protesting because it looks like a drink for a child, try taking a sip. It’s delicious.
This drink is super popular because it’s refreshing, stays cold, and it’s sweetened to perfection! Almost every shop has their own slushy machine filled with “ice cafe”, and it’s made the same. It tastes just like a blended iced coffee with cream and sugar!
If this doesn’t sound like your thing and you really just want a “normal iced coffee”, you’ll have to order a “cafe kar”. This literally translates to cold coffee, so they will give you coffee over ice cubes. Just beware that it will still taste different from the U.S. because they use espresso, not standard drip coffee. So it might taste stronger and more bitter than you’re used to.
