France is a great place for a vacation of any kind, but if you’ve ever considered doing a bike tour of an area then France should be top of your list. Hosting the Tour de France each year, it’s not surprising that it’s popular with cyclists. Here are just three reasons to plan a cycling trip across this beautiful country.

Perfect Cycling Roads

French roads are well-known for being wide and open. You’ll find long straight roads that you can whizz along without having to worry about sharp corners and steep inclines. There’s also barely any traffic on most of the roads around France so you won’t be constantly overtaken by cars.

Lovely Towns to Stop in

There will be endless sweet little towns and villages along your route to stop off in and have a wander around. Most of these will have an authentic and delicious French boulangerie in too, selling the best possible bread, pastry, and cake products to keep you going along your trip.

Stunning Countryside

You’ll pass through so many different areas all with their own unique atmosphere. Whether it’s rolling fields with huge poplar trees dotted along, or some rugged coastline, you won’t get bored of the beautiful sights.

There are many ways to explore a city, and on the back of a bicycle is certainly one of them. Letting the wind blow through your hair while you take in the streets and sights is not only fun and whimsical, it’s a way to keep fit, too. Here are three cities worth seeing on two wheels.

Berlin, Germany

Historical landmarks? Check. Vibrant culture? Check. An extensive network of bike lanes? Check, check, check. Thanks to a comprehensive bicycle-sharing system, can cycle past the Berlin Wall, Brandenburg Gate, and Checkpoint Charlie; explore the trendy neighborhoods of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain; and taste all the city has to offer.

Tel Aviv, Israel

As a coastal city, Tel Aviv offers both scenic routes and inner-city cosmopolitanism. Dozens of cafes and restaurants line the street, while the serene boulevards and lively promenade are all equipped for bicycles to glide through. Don’t miss out on pedalling to the ancient port city of Jaffa.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

This list would not be complete without including Amsterdam! Know as the cycling city thanks to its flat landscape, pedalling is the perfect way to see the famous canals; visit world-class museums; and enjoy the beloved tulips.

traveler is a small coastal town on the classic traveler route in Peru. While most people visit this sleepy town on the edge of the Atacama Desert to take a boat tour of the Islas Ballestas (Peru’s version of the Galapagos islands), that’s not the only way to explore the amazing nature in Paracas National Park…

Hire Bikes

There are plenty of places to hire bikes very cheaply in Paracas. Reserve your bikes the night before and set off no later than 8am. The Atacama is the driest desert in the world, and you don’t want to be caught out in the midday sun. Take plenty of water, sunhats, and get ready for a day of tough but exhilarating cycling!

Stop at Stunning Beaches

The Paracas Nature Reserve is full of stunning beaches where it’s possible to take a dip to cool off after a few hours of strenuous peddling. Look out for interesting bird life (including flamingos), striking red cliffs, and truly spectacular views of the vast surrounding desert.

Take a Lunch Break

If that wasn’t enough of a selling point, there’s even somewhere to stop for lunch and a cold beer! Head to Lagunillas beach (it’s well-signposted) where you’ll find several restaurants offering a menu of the day, including local seafood and a few veggie options. These restaurants are more expensive than others you’ll find in Peru, but the amazing setting is worth it!

A Short Ride Home

Ask folks at the restaurant to direct you to the shorter route home (we guarantee your legs will be feeling like jelly by this point!) and head back to Paracas in the afternoon. You’ll be back in time for Happy Hour and some well-deserved pisco sours!

It all started with a cycling trip through Europe. Dean, the founder of 1bike1world, knew that he wanted to leave his native Scotland and cycle around the world. What he did not expect was to come across a feisty little kitten on the Bosnia-Montenegro border. As soon as these two saw each other, it was love. Dean quickly got his newly found kitten the medical care she needed and named her Nala after the lioness from Disney’s The Lion King

From there, their Instagram and YouTube channels went viral. In 2018 Nala and Dean continued their cycling journey across Europe and documented it for the world to see. 2020 was a slower year for the duo, with them spending much of the pandemic in Hungary. The two were able to return to Dean’s native Scotland in the United Kingdom for a brief time, but are now spending the rest of the pandemic in Gmunden, Austria. Expect to see a lot of Nala and Dean Austrian content, while they wait for borders to reopen and to resume their journey.

Check out their travels, and all of the news around their next travel locale. It sounds like Nala and Dean may be heading to Asia!

Cycling through the Trees is the newest addition in the Limburg cycle route network, which allows cyclists and adventurers to enjoy the natural landscape of Limburg in a unique way. This cycling and walking experience is a 32 feet elevated circular bike path built through the treetops of the Bosland forest, located about an hour away from Brussels.

The project was initiated by Visit Limburg and designed by landscape architect Pieter Daenen in collaboration with architects De Gregorio & Partners. The main idea behind the design of the cycle bridge and its construction within the forest was to bring out the beauty and importance of the existing flora and fauna.

The structure forms a gradually-inclined path that allows visitors to ride along a 100-meter (328 feet) diameter double circle that offers 360° views of the surrounding landscape. At the start of the path, there is an information pavilion built from stacked recycled logs, where visitors can relax and enjoy the view of the forest. The path also offers multiple alcoves with benches to sit and rest along the way.

This is only the second project in a series of innovative experiences enabling cyclists to enjoy the beauty of nature along the Limburg cycle route network. The attraction was an instant success and brought more than 70,000 people in the first four weeks only. Now, over 2,000 people use it every day. Due to this project’s popularity, Visit Limburg is planning on building more similar attractions in the future. This is a must-see for nature lovers and those who enjoy cycling tourism.

Vietnam has unique nature spots around the country from the cities to the provinces. The country also has many ancient towns, wet markets and Buddhist pagodas scattered across its cities. Some of the most touristic spots are Cat Ba island and Ha Long Bay. If you’re looking for a motorcycle adventure – try out Vietnam for hours on end of endless biking.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B1jO-hSg2HW/

Diverse Biospheres

Vietnam is home to almost six different kinds of biospheres and climates, which makes it one of the most unique countries in the world thanks to its diverse ecosystem. This makes it the perfect reason to bike through Vietnam – to witness the lush rice terraces and hidden caves. If you’re a thrillseeker – you’ll certainly get your fix here and more.

Rent a Bike

If you’re not into the fast and furious lifestyle – slow things down by taking a regular bike. You’ll have an equally beautiful time gazing at the rice paddies and mountainsides. You can take your time with the bicycle since you won’t need to rush – and it’s also a great time to reflect on your trip and what places you want to see next.

Join a Bike Tour

If you’re not a big fan of solo biking, then consider joining a bike tour. Vespa Adventures has bike tours all over Southeast Asia, so you won’t have to feel lonely when going biking. It’s also a great way to get to know a region by having a guide to explain the history of the place. Not to mention it’s more of a dynamic tour, since you won’t just be seated in a car – instead you’ll see mother nature just a few inches away from your seat.
