Rum is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks that comes from the Caribbean. Over time, many countries have developed their own recipes, so you can try various styles and flavors around the world. However, the Caribbean countries remain the best place to taste this drink. Here are the top 3, in our opinion.

Barbados

It’s believed that Barbados is the place where rum was first created and enjoyed back in the 17th century. In 1703, the first distillery named Mount Gay was opened there. You can still taste the original rum on the island and enjoy the centuries of tradition that go into its production.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B30E3ANFjyX/

Jamaica

Jamaican rum is characterized by a flavor called “hogo” that resembles overripe fruit, but in a good way. There’s a special production process that allows this. Many Jamaican rums are stronger than average so they are great for cocktails.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CCBkGZynlWk/

Cuba

During the Prohibition, Americans escaped to Cuba to taste its delicious rum. To this day, Cuban rum is one of the best in the world, but it’s not easy to find it in the US. This is because of the Cold War trade restrictions that are still active today.

Drinking is a big part of socializing in South Korea. It’s a great way to bond with friends and to relax after long working days. After a few drinks, the atmosphere typically relaxes and everyone’s ready to have a good time. Alcohol is pretty cheap in Korea, which is just another reason it’s so popular. However, there are some rules you should follow if you never went drinking in Korea before.

Respecting the Elders

It’s a huge compliment to be offered a drink from your superior at the end of the workday. Respecting the elders is a big part of the Korean tradition that also applies to drinking, so remember to always accept the first drink you’re offered and let them pour it for you.

Never Pour Your Own Drink

This one is subtle but important. You should pour drinks for others and let them do the same for you. When doing so, hold the bottle with both hands. If you want to take a break and not get your glass refilled, make sure you leave some of the drink in it because an empty glass will always get refilled in no time.

Eat While Drinking

Drinking in Korea never goes without a snack. The bars typically offer savory snacks while you can expect a platter of fruit with soju cocktails.

Many trends from South Korea have been spreading around the world lately, and today we’re sharing the most popular drinks you can try while visiting the country or even try recreating at home until we get to travel again!

Dalgona Coffee

Dalgona coffee went viral a few months ago and for a good reason. It’s delicious, easy to make, and you probably already have all the ingredients at home. You only need instant coffee, sugar, water, and dairy or non-dairy milk. The trick with dalgona coffee is to mix the ingredients until you get a thick, smooth consistency that will hold shape after being transferred into a glass or mug.

Soju

Soju is a Korean drink that’s distilled from fermented rice, wheat, barley, tapioca, or sweet potatoes. It’s classified as a spirit and has high levels of alcohol in it. Chill it before serving and pour it into small shot glasses. Another way Koreans consume soju is by dripping a shot of it in their beer.

Milkis

If a thought of sparkling milk sounds interesting, you need to try milkis. It’s an unusual drink that combines milk, corn syrup, and carbonation into a sweet, fizzy liquid that’s unlike anything you’ve ever tried.

When traveling is limited, we need to be more creative in attempts to explore the world. One of the best parts of traveling is exploring the local food and drinks, so you can recreate the experience at home by having a Traveler’s Cocktail Night! Here are our favorites just so you get some ideas.

Pisco Sour from Peru

Pisco Sour is a simple cocktail that you can find everywhere in Peru. All you need is one part of Simple syrup, one part egg whites, one part lime juice, and three parts Pisco. Shake all the ingredients together and enjoy.

Spritz from Italy

Using only three ingredients, you can make legendary Italian spritz at home. Depending on the regions, the Italians use Aperol, Select, or Campari, mix it with white wine (or prosecco), and sparkling water.

Melosa from Portugal

Medronho is a spirit made from Medronho berries that’s unique to Portugal. It’s used to make Melosa cocktail, along with honey, cinnamon, and lemon.

A lot of people don’t realize that Spain is actually made up of over 20 regions, each with its own history, cuisine, and sometimes even languages! So when you go to Spain, you might not find the typical sangria in local bars, and if you do, it’s probably a tourist trap. Instead, go for these drinks when you’re in a specific region of Spain.

Andalucia

This southern region of Spain is famous for cities like Seville and Malaga, old ideas of entertainment like bullfighting, and the invention of the flamenco dance. But this all happens in a very hot climate, which is why a lot of people think that sangria was actually invented here! So if you do visit Andalucia in the summer, you should definitely try the sangria.

Galicia

Galicia is a region on the border with Portugal and has some of the best wine in the country. Albarino is one of the most famous and delicious and comes in both red and white varieties, so everyone can be happy!

Catalonia

Though gin and tonics are actually really popular all around Spain, getting one in Catalonia is an excellent decision. There are some really fabulous bars dedicated just to gin, and even standard ones will whip up a delicious g&t.

Your trip to Barcelona would not be complete if you didn’t try sangria. The sweet, fruit-infused wine is a signature drink for Spain, especially for this area. If you’re visiting for the first time, we rounded up three best places to have sangria in Barcelona to make your trip easier.

Bubo Bar

You’ve probably already heard of Bubo Bar. This is a very renowned location that has bars in several other places aside from Barcelona. The sangria here is superb. It is probably one of the best ones I’ve ever had. It is not extremely pricey, so it should be on your must-visit list.

Arcano

Arcano is so popular for both the drinks and their delicious pastries. This great restaurant is located in the Gothic Quarter and serves possibly the best sangria in Barcelona.

Casa Lolea

This is officially one of the best places to have sangria in Barcelona. Tourists are completely blown away with this cute restaurant with traditional Spanish food. If you want to experience the real deal for both food and drinks, this is the place to go. It has amazing reviews, which means you have to spare an hour of your time to sip on sangrias.
