Egypt’s Pyramids of Giza is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, with more than 14 million people visiting it each year. If you are looking to do the same, avoid making the following tourist mistakes to ensure you have an amazing experience.

Forgetting About Sun Protection

You can expect high temperatures and unforgiving sun no matter what time of the year you decide to visit the Pyramids of Giza. This is why you should make sure to bring all sorts of sun protection, including sunscreen, hats, or headscarves, sunglasses, and light clothing.

Taking an Offer to Have Your Photo Taken

Staff and guards will often ask to help you take the “best” photo. If you accept the offer, you will get a poor-quality shot but will have to pay for it as they will demand a tip.

Not Hiring a Guide

Having a guide will make your visit much more comfortable. First of all, you will learn a lot about pyramids and get to see all of their hidden gems. Second of all, guides will have better success in getting sellers and camel riders to stop chasing you in hopes they will sell you something or get you to take a camel ride.

Not Entering the Pyramids

You can actually enter two of the three Giza Pyramids. You shouldn’t miss out on this opportunity as there are plenty of fascinating things to be seen including ancient artworks and artifacts.

The Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, stand as a testament to the ingenuity and brilliance of ancient Egyptian civilization. Visiting these monumental structures is an awe-inspiring experience that offers a glimpse into history and culture. In this post, we’ll share essential tips to ensure you make the most of your visit to the Pyramids of Giza.

Plan Your Visit Strategically

The best time to visit the Pyramids is during the cooler months, from October to April, to avoid the scorching heat of the Egyptian summer. Additionally, arrive early in the morning to beat the crowds and enjoy the attractions without the midday rush.

Hire a Knowledgeable Guide

Engaging a knowledgeable guide can significantly enhance your experience. They provide valuable insights into the historical significance, architectural marvels, and hidden stories behind these ancient wonders, enriching your visit with fascinating details.

Respect the Heritage

While exploring the Pyramids, it’s important to respect the cultural heritage and rules set in place to preserve these historic sites. Refrain from climbing on the structures or touching the ancient stones, as they are delicate and vulnerable to damage.

Dress Comfortably and Respectfully

Opt for lightweight and breathable clothing to stay comfortable in the Egyptian climate. Keep in mind that the Pyramids are a sacred site, so dress modestly and consider covering your shoulders and knees as a sign of respect.

Stay Hydrated and Sun-Protected

Egypt’s sun can be intense, especially during the warmer months. Stay hydrated by carrying a refillable water bottle and wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun’s rays.

Summers in Egypt are extremely warm, harsh, and dry, but what if this is the only time you have at your disposal to visit this country? If you find yourself in Egypt during the hottest time of the year, here are several important things you should keep in mind.

Hot Temperatures

Temperatures will be sky-high during your summer holiday in Egypt, especially in the desert areas, going all the way up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure to wear sunscreen at all times and try to stay properly hydrated to guard off the summer heat.

Perfect Timing

Plan your sightseeing activities around the weather, and consider heading out first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon when the temperature is slightly cooler.

Big Crowds

Summer may be considered off-season in Egypt, but don’t expect to escape tourists altogether during your trip. Many people still use summer holidays to explore this country, so expect huge crowds at main tourist hubs, such as Giza and Luxor.

Proper Attire

You might be tempted to wear classic summer clothes to deal with the heat, but keep in mind that Egypt is a predominantly Muslim country so it’s highly recommended to cover your shoulders, chest, and knees, especially when visiting religious sites.

Luxor is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions Egyptian temples, but they’re not all located in and around this city. Stunning ancient temples are scattered all around this African country, and here are three worth checking out during your visit.

Abu Simbel Temple

One of Egypt’s most iconic historic monuments, Abu Simbel consists of two rock-cut temples on the shores of Lake Nasser. This monument celebrates the legacy of king Ramesses II, and it was notably moved to its current location when the Aswan Dam was built.

Temple of Edfu

The Temple of Edfu is located on the west bank of the Nile, and it’s one of the best-preserved Ptolemaic temples in all of Africa. Myths and legends from the Hellenistic period in Egypt are inscribed on its walls, some of them depicting the age-old conflict between Horus and Seth.

Temple of Kom Ombo

Temples in Egypt stand as constant reminders of different periods throughout its history, and this one will take us back to the Roman period. It was originally constructed during the Ptolemaic dynasty, and it’s most notable for its unusual double entrance, dedicated to two sets of gods – the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris.
