]]>New York City does holidays, especially Christmas, better than anyone else. This is why it isn’t a surprise that the city hosts one of the best holiday markets in the nation. Taking place from mid-November to December 24, NYC’s Union Square Market features more than 150 vendors and offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy beautiful decorations, admire arts and crafts, browse handmade gifts, and enjoy some amazing food.
Christkindlmarket is inspired by holiday markets in Germany and offers a unique experience. Visitors can treat themselves to fresh pretzels, bratwursts, and mulled wine while enjoying Christmas ornaments and listening to holiday tunes. The market takes place from December 1 until December 24 in three locations across Chicago – Daley Plaza, RiverEdge Park, and Gallagher Way – and features all sorts of special events and performances.
Philadelphia’s Christmas Village offers a full package. You can do your usual Christmas shopping at stalls featuring local and international vendors but also enjoy holiday festivities and plenty of additional attractions ranging from rides to high-end dining experiences.

]]>Nowhere in Québec says Christmas more than the Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville. The Place (Place used here meaning the French word for “Square,”) has a little Christmas shop known as Boutique de Noël that appears to have taken over entirely with lights and decorations in every corner. Be sure to check out the German Christmas Market for some local, handmade art and a warm beverage.
This street was voted Canada’s Favorite in 2014, and for good reason. It’s incredibly quaint, even more so around the holiday season. See the church and stop into some of the local shops, or simply take a stroll and soak it all in.
Le Château Frontenac is probably the most well-known landmark in Québec. It’s a beautiful, grand hotel and even non-guests are welcome to stop by to see the exquisite holiday decorations. Every year outside of the Château a toboggan run is held where thrill-seekers can expect to reach speeds of over 40 miles an hour!
