]]>But one eternal question remains: where shall we eat? Professional eater and New York native Alexa Matthews is here for the rescue. Born and raised in New York, and with a background in hospitality, social media, and communications, Matthews’ keen understanding of the industry has been essential to her success when working with brands across different sectors.
Listed as one of the top 30 people in food by AdWeek in 2016 and featured by CNNMoney, Wall Street Journal, and Cosmopolitan, amongst others, Matthews knows what she’s talking about.
“I was a writer for a lifestyle website, and I fell into food writing and immediately loved it,” she explained. “Eating NYC was a great outlet to compliment the restaurants I was writing about at work. At the time, food Instagram wasn’t such a huge thing—a lot has changed since then! I fell in love with the industry and got a bit more experience in restaurant and chef marketing and PR roles before making the exciting decision a year ago to go full-time with Eating NYC. And it’s been great!
“My account is all about showing you the latest and greatest in New York—it’s my duty to be your loyal, trustworthy guide,” she adds. “A lot of my followers are young women in New York, and I’m posting my pictures through a young, female lens. Integrity is really important—I go to restaurants of interest, because I want to keep my finger on the pulse, which often means paying for the food and if I like it, I tell my followers about it.”
Stay hungry, and stay safe.

]]>“I started blogging back in 2016,” she told Medium, “and it became a creative outlet and it had me excited to power through my day at work and get home to work on something that is MINE. My friends hear me often refer to my life outside of work as my 6:01 Life because Worker Dom is done at 6 and content creation begins at 6:01. Use of my time includes responding to Instagram engagement, looking up new restaurants, or reading blogging-related content while on the subway.”
A dedicated food blogger, Tubbs is also very passionate about businesses from marginalized communities. “The mission behind Dom N’ The City has always been to highlight great restaurants and businesses,” she shared in a recent Instagram post. “Harlem has been home to us for almost 6 years, and I love this neighborhood and the community that has welcomed me with open arms.”
And since dining out is not really an option, Tubbs has also been sharing recently some quick and easy recipes for home, which means you really don’t have any excuses left but to head on to her Instagram page.

]]>New York City is certainly one of those destinations where you end up walking a lot and enjoying the streets, and so we thought we’d get a list together of some of the city’s various hot dogs spots.
It’s hard to miss the many street corners that have small eateries with “papaya” included in the name. Particularly famous are Gray’s Papaya and Papaya King. Both chains, as well as the various other “papayas” around the city, are known for their cheap and delicious hotdogs and their refreshing tropical fruit juices. Don’t miss this unique New York experience.
Tucked away on 9th Avenue is Rudy’s Bar & Grill, one of the city’s most famous dive bars and a licensed establishment since 1933. This means that at Rudy’s you can get your fill of that classic combination: hot dog and cheap beer.
Fancy a classier hot dog? Try popping over to Hell’s Kitchen to try one of Kings of Kobe’s no-hormone, no-steroids, wagyu beef hot dogs.
