Young children can be very unpredictable, especially when flying with them for the first time. So whether you are flying for the first time or well-seasoned with your young children, we have some helpful tips to get you and your little one through this potentially tricky experience.

Baby-Essentials Kit

Gather a few must-need items in your carry-on such as an extra pacifier, diapers, wipes, little toys, a small blanket, and maybe some food or snacks. This will significantly help fussy kids, especially on long flights or road trips.

Feeding your baby during take-off

Feed your baby before take off and before landing in order to keep their ears from popping. This may mitigate the discomfort from their ears as well as distract them from how scary take off and landing can be.

Buy a seat for your kid

This tip will be helpful especially when on long flights when you’re inevitably going to spread out and relax. It may also be more comfortable for your baby when they, hopefully, fall asleep!

Amuse and Distract

Babies are easily amused and distracted. So, if your little one is having a difficult time during the flight, turn on a show with many colors, talk to them, or even walk up and down the aisle in the plane if there is no turbulence. Coloring pages, books, and small toys can also be soothing and distracting, especially if your baby gets restless.

While the prospect of taking a much-needed break from daily life may sound great, planning a vacation involving your kids can prove more complicated than initially thought. Still, this planning need not be stressful so long as you adopt the right approach. Here are some tips to help make traveling with children easier than expected.

Schedule Extra Time for Everything

No matter where you’re going or what you’re doing, make sure you set more time for every activity than you think you need just in case of any setbacks. After all, looking after kids can make things take longer than expected.

Enroll Everyone in Travel Rewards Programs

While the adults in your family may already be enrolled in these programs, it’s worth registering your kids as well. Make sure that you sign them up before booking your trip so that you can earn all of the possible points and put them towards some rewards.

Check Out Family Deals

Some resorts, such as Universal Studios Resort and Disney World offer kid-friendly vacation packages. This will enable you to enjoy a fun-filled vacation with plenty of activities to keep the kids busy, thereby preventing boredom and any friction between family members as a result.

We’ve said it before, but perhaps it bears repeating—as much as we love to travel, we can’t deny that it’s also inherently stressful. Air travel, in particular, can really test our patience, especially when it comes to long-haul flights. Add young children to the mix, and you’re practically asking for a nightmare at 30,000 feet. Even the calmest, most well-behaved children can struggle with the discomfort and disruption to routine, but with a little planning and proper preparation, traveling with children doesn’t have to be so difficult. Here are a few of our best tips to get you through.

Entertainment is Key

Ensuring a smooth flight begins before it’s even time to board the plane. Sitting for hours in a small space can leave kids feeling bored and frustrated, so it’s essential to prepare things to keep them entertained. Pack a designated bag with their favorite books, toys, and electronic devices with headphones. Download movies or shows in advance, and keep chargers handy in case batteries get low. Most important of all, include plenty of healthy snacks to prevent hunger-induced meltdowns.

Stick to Routine

Kids thrive on routine, so try to maintain a semblance of your child’s regular schedule as much as possible throughout your flight. Bring familiar sleep-related items like blankets or stuffed animals and offer them at your child’s regular nap and bedtimes to encourage sleep. If their meal times don’t happen to align with the plane’s schedule, offer snacks, or hold onto their food until it’s time for them to eat later on.

Choose Your Seats Wisely

If you have the option to choose your seats, opt for aisle seats that are close to the bathroom. You’ll be able to get up and down as needed without having to climb over your neighbors and get to the toilet more quickly when your child needs to go. When traveling as a family or group, try to book your seats in a row so you have more space to spread out.

For anybody traveling with kids, flying is a clear challenge. After all, children have little room to move around on a plane, making it especially difficult for them to stay put on international and long-haul flights. Here are some techniques to make flying with kids easier.

Bring Some Toys

Once you get your kids settled into their seats, surprise them with some new toys. Not only will this provide them with something to play with to pass the time, but the surprise on its own will distract them from the reality that they don’t have much place to run around.

Pack Some Comfortable Earphones

One form of entertainment that airlines provide to parents and children alike is the in-flight entertainment screen, filled with movies and TV shows. If you plan on letting your child watch TV while you fly, be sure to pack some comfortable earphones for them so that they can watch in comfort, especially over such a long journey.

Bring Snacks

Children need nutrition thought the day, meaning that the minimal snacks and meals that airlines provide throughout the flight may not be enough for your little ones. Make sure to pack enough small snacks and fruit and vegetables so that your kids get the food they need.

Are you ready to embark on an unforgettable family adventure? Traveling with kids can be an exciting and rewarding experience, filled with precious memories that will last a lifetime. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey for everyone, we’ve gathered some fantastic tips to help you make the most of your family getaway.

Involve Them In The Planning

First things first, involve your little ones in the planning process. Let them choose a destination or help create an itinerary. This not only builds excitement but also gives them a sense of ownership and responsibility for the trip.

Smart Packing

Pack smartly and strategically. Remember to bring essential items like snacks, toys, and extra changes of clothes. But don’t overload your bags! Leave some room for souvenirs and treasures your children may collect along the way.

Technology Is Your Friend

Embrace the power of technology. Tablets, portable gaming consoles, or e-books can be your best travel companions. Load them up with educational apps, movies, or interactive games that will keep your kids entertained during long flights or car rides.

Family-Friendly Spots

Seek out family-friendly accommodations. Look for hotels or resorts that offer amenities catered to children, such as swimming pools, play areas, or organized activities. This way, your little adventurers will have plenty of opportunities to burn off energy and make new friends.

A common worry for new parents is that they’ll no longer be able to travel the world like they used to. There’s a lot of truth to these parents’ worries. After all, having a child to look over pretty much turns your whole world upside down, to the point where you don’t even know what’s what. However, is it truly that black and white? Or are you able to travel with your children?

It Depends

Traveling with your children is definitely possible, but it depends on a lot of things. For one it depends on how many children you have. Two, it depends on how old your children are, what they’re capable of doing, and how much hands-on attention they need at every second.

And three, it depends on what kind of travels you’ll be going on. It matters where you’ll be going and what you’ll be doing. For instance, you can’t really take a toddler to freezing cold Iceland (or at least we wouldn’t recommend it). But you can take them to Europe where things are pretty civilized and the weather is usually fine most of the year. If your visits are for the most part cultural, and not very rigorous, then children are a lot easier to take with you on your trip.

Seattle is a large, beautiful city with lots of things to do for people of all ages. If you find yourself there with your family, you may be wondering what attractions will be kid-friendly while also having some educational value so your kids come home having learned something as well as having had fun. Here are some educational places you can take children in the city.

Pacific Science Center

The Pacific Science Center is perfect for older kids who are curious about the world around them, or generally interested in STEM. In addition to hands-on and virtual science exhibits, it has an iMax theatre and a musical laser light show! Currently, tickets are available for the “Hockey: Faster Than Ever” exhibit, which is perfect for science and sports fans alike.

Wings Over Washington

This show is an experience for all five senses! It’s a virtual tour of the best and most interesting parts of Washington State, and will give your kids a chance to see natural and manmade local wonders that will keep them enraptured for the duration of the show.

Seattle Aquarium

If you’re not from the Pacific Northwest, then the Seattle Aquarium will be a unique educational experience for your kids. This aquarium focuses entirely on aquatic life from the Pacific Northwest, meaning it’s a must-see if your kids love animals or science.

Going on long plane trips with your children can be equal parts exciting and challenging. While kids always have a great time once the final destination is reached, there is no doubt that a long ride on a plane without much opportunity to get up and move around can be tough for them. In order to make these long flights a little less painful for both you and your young children, use these three ideas to help keep them entertained during the journey.

Card Games

Kids always love playing a card game, and this is a great, technology-free idea to use on flights in order to keep them busy. Take a classic for younger kids like Uno, or if yours are a bit older, a regular deck of cards will do the trick.

Movies

Let’s be honest: children love watching movies, and putting one they love in front of their eyes is a great way to entertain them for two hours during a long flight. Most long-haul aircrafts have pre-loaded movies and entertainment systems, or you can use your laptop or tablet to play them.

Window Seats

I don’t know about your kids, but when we were youngsters, we loved sitting in the window seat and being able to look out at the world passing below us while on a plane. This is an underrated way to get your kids happier and have them more entertained while flying.

When people become parents, the reality of traveling and visiting new places undeniably changes. Instead of spending time doing the things that adults would choose to do, you have to start taking into account your children and how to keep them entertained.

Fortunately, this doesn’t mean that you have to have a bad time! Instead of spending all of your time at children’s museums, it’s possible to do things that’ll satisfy both parents and kids alike.

Here are four suggestions for parent and kid-friendly activities.

Zoos

Zoological parks are a great way to spend a day on vacation. Your kids will get to see animals and enjoy child-friendly activities, and you’ll have a great time as well.

Beaches

Going to the beach is a fantastic activity both for adults and kids. Adults can relax, take a walk, or have a swim, while kids are able to explore and experience new sights and sensations.

Science Museums

Children’s museums are nice, but they can bore the average adult after a while. Science museums that aren’t marketed for children, however, are appropriate for all ages, because they generally involve kid-friendly exhibitions and activities as well!

Aquariums

Aquariums, like zoos, cater to all ages. Adults will be fascinated by the marine life and scientific knowledge that they offer, while children will find plenty to do in zones designated for them. It’s a win-win!
