]]>One way to get your travel fix while staying at home is with virtual reality tours, something that is made even more fun, immersive, and interactive with the help of a VR headset.
Virtual reality is becoming more and more commonplace to find, and plenty of tourist attractions have spent the past year or so uploading virtual tours of their spots that can be seen using VR devices.
Headsets, available from companies such as Oculus at a price point ranging between $300 and $500, are still a relatively new market addition but a great investment for all kinds of applications in the future.
Virtual travel is one of my favorite things to use a VR headset for, as it completely immerses you in the sights and sounds of a different place, all from the comfort of your own home.
Would you give travel through a virtual reality headset a try?

]]>One of my favorite virtual tours I have discovered recently is a tour of the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
The Grand Canyon National Park is the home to one of the most recognizable natural wonders in the United States. The most common route used to hike the Grand Canyon is the Bright Angel Trail, which begins on the canyon’s South Rim and leads all the way down to the Colorado River.
This eight-mile long trail is one of the newest virtual treks Google Maps has made available in a 100% virtual format.
Doing this hike in real life is difficult and strenuous—with a sixteen-mile round trip, a 10% average grade, and unpredictable and varied temperatures making it a hike that’s best for experienced trekkers.
Whether or not you have this type of expertise, observing the burnt red natural landscape and the Colorado River coursing through the canyon on this virtual trek can be done from the safety and comfort of your own home. It’s a brilliant way to lose yourself in one of the most impressive places on Earth.
So, if you find yourself with wanderlust and a desire to seek out something new while you’re at home, a visit to the Grand Canyon National Park and a hike on its Bright Angel Trail might just be the remedy you were looking for.

]]>Virtual tours are becoming so popular that you can visit pretty much any place this way, but you shouldn’t pressure yourself into doing that. Pick the destinations that truly interest you, and use virtual tours to inspire you to see them in person one day.
Virtual tours often come in a form of full-motion videos, and you can go through each in a matter of seconds. Keep in mind you won’t enjoy them this way, and you should really take your time to fully immerse yourself into a virtual destination of your choice.
You’ll rarely get proper guidance when it comes to virtual tours, so make sure to learn as much as you can on your own. Explore the culture and history of places you want to visit, now that you have so much free time on your hands.
