Taipei City offers a perfect mix of old and new, and its rich history lives on in its countless beautiful temples. The capital of Taiwan is home to several impressive temples you shouldn’t miss during your visit, and here are some of the very best.

Lungshan Temple

One of Taipei’s top attractions, Lungshan Temple was built in the 1700s, as a place of worship for Chinese settlers. Three centuries later, it remains one of Taiwan’s most iconic temples, well-known for honoring both Buddhist and Taoist deities.

Bao’an Temple

This landmark temple was completed during the 1800s, on the ground of a much smaller wooden shrine. It went through many repairs and renovations over the years, and it’s worth a visit for its beautiful murals and dragon column in the main hall.

Taipei Confucius Temple

This temple is adjacent to Bao’an, and it’s one of many temples across Asia built in honor of the great Chinese philosopher Confucius.

Xingtian Temple

Xingtian is one of Taipei City’s most beautiful modern-day temples and it’s only been around since 1967. It’s devoted to Lord Guan, the patron saint of businessmen, and it’s impossible to miss thanks to its striking red doors and the countless dragon sculptures it’s adorned with.
