The Best Nature Hikes in Los Angeles

Those who aren’t from Los Angeles constantly liken it to a Hollywood-inspired town of plastic trees, where club-going and rooftop plazas are where the fun’s at. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Once people actually take the time to visit LA, one learns that there’s so much more to it than just fake movie sets. Indeed, LA has some incredible nature hikes, and here are three of our favorites.

Runyon Canyon

Here’s a hike that’s easy for the whole family to do and has an incredible view at the top, ideal for a sunset viewing. This is arguably the most popular hike in LA, and certainly a hotspot for dog walkers and yogis in the area. In fact, it’s so popular that celebrities are often seen there as well.

Sandstone Peak

This hike is a lot longer and more intense than Runyon, but it’s arguably one of the best hikes in Southern California. Following its steep, rocky trail, you’ll find yourself at the very top of the Santa Monica Mountains. The view once you get there is a sight to behold, but the journey there is worth just as much.

Malibu Creek State Park

If you’re someone who loves a little bit of everything, this is the place for you. Malibu Creek State Park has rock climbing, gorgeous lakes, elaborate geologic beauty, and ranching as well. If that’s not enough, its beautiful scenery was also the setting for a handful of films, if that kind of thing interests you.
