Greece is always a popular tourist destination, particularly in the summer. Centuries of culture, exquisite beaches, and incredible food are all wrapped into one. There are at least 6,000 islands to choose from, but if you’re heading there, here are some things to bear in mind.

Pick Your Place

Everyone is familiar with Mykonos, Santorini, and Crete, but don’t overlook the lesser-known ones. Milos is the place to go if you want to get away from the crowds as it hosts only a few thousand residents and a coastline for days. Looking for something a bit vibier? Ios is known for its nightlife, making it the ideal spot to enjoy the part scene.

Pick Your Transportation

When glancing at a map, islands may seem very close together, but in truth, it takes a while to hop from one to the other. This is typically done through plane or ferry. Ferries may take longer, but most flights require returning to Athens before heading to another island, so be strategic in your planning.

Pick Your Coffee

There is a great debate over whether that super strong black coffee is known as “Greek coffee” or “Turkish coffee”. Leave the politics aside and rather visit the charming local coffee shops for a classic frappe or even a Freddo espresso.
