We all know Cambodia for its historic temples and beautiful landscapes but we tend to forget that Cambodia also has beautiful islands, not far from the islands of Thailand. The two most popular Cambodian islands are Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem. A real paradise on earth.
Koh Rong
Koh Rong is known as a backpacker’s paradise, full of hostels and bars on the beach. It is more developed than Koh Rong Sanloem and has a fun and young atmosphere with a bigger variety of restaurants and things to do. The activities are still a little limited, you could go snorkeling or fishing, but other than this you can just relax and read a book on the beach. With its beautiful blue ocean and white sand, you will spend a lovely and relaxing time, guaranteed.
Koh Rong Sanloem
Koh Rong Sanloem is considered as the ‘big brother’ of Koh Rong and is only a few minutes boat drive away. It is a less developed, serene island. Make sure to have a book or two, because other than that you won’t have much to do. The island does not have WiFi so do not bother asking for the Wifi log-ins in your hotel or restaurant. Once it is dark outside, the island is slowly shutting down. If you are looking for beautiful walks on the beach, relaxing under a palm tree with your book, this is the right place to be!
