This is the Best Airport in the World According to Condé Nast

Airports are the places we pass through to get from one point to another, but we’d be lying if we said that all airports are made equally. While some are so tiny that you’d be lucky to find a vending machine, others possess entire cinemas and butterfly sanctuaries (looking at you, Singapore Changi Airport).

Each year, Condé Nast Traveler asks its readers to vote for their top airports around the world. Almost a quarter of a million people took part in the 2022 survey which is now in its 35th year.

Although Singapore’s magnificent travel hub featured in the top 3, it did not claim the top spot as in previous years. The honor went, instead, to Istanbul Airport in the Turkish capital. Designed by Grimshaw Architects, the airport features not one, but two, art galleries, conference facilities, lounges, shops, and restaurants. Considering it is the busiest airport in Europe (and the second-busiest airport in the world), it makes sense that it possesses a fleet of robots to direct passengers through the 818-million-square-foot hub!

Upon receiving the prestigious title of World’s Best Airport, Istanbul Airport’s CEO and General Manager, Kadri Samsunlu, explained, “For our guests over 65 years of age, we have created a friendly airport, a pet-friendly airport, a barrier-free and accessible airport, as well as a special lounge for our young people.”
