This is the Most Remote Place on Earth (Inhabited by Humans)

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that there are still remote places on Earth, especially when you live in or close to a city. It seems like there are just so many people. So many people, perhaps, that you want to just get away and stay on an island somewhere super remote? Well, do we have the perfect place for you!

Tristan da Cunha, also known as “the most remote point on Earth inhabited by humans”, is located in the Southern Atlantic Ocean. It’s a group of volcanic islands, and it’s the most isolated archipelago, with only 250 permanent residents! The community of just 250 residents have come together to form a beautiful bond with each other. It has every bit of small-town vibes you would expect.

The island is only six-by-six miles and 1,500 miles away from any other land. The only way to reach Tristan is by ship, and that journey alone will take you almost a week long! To get there, you must take a ship from South Africa and get special permission to visit.

In terms of what you can do there, options are pretty limited to getting to know the inhabitants of the islands, working on the farms, and exploring the natural wonders of the island. The landscapes are so beautiful and untouched, you really will feel like you’re in the most remote place on Earth!
