If you’re used to traveling in the U.S., you might assume that a wheeling suitcase is always preferable when traveling. Why would you ever want to carry your luggage instead of wheeling it? All it takes is one trip to a city with cobblestone streets and you’ll be questioning this statement that always seemed to be true. So, how do you know if you should pack for your next trip in a wheeling suitcase or hand-held luggage? Here’s our guide on when to use both!

Wheeled Suitcase

Wheeled suitcases are great if you plan on traveling to modernized destinations. This means you’ll be walking on (mostly) flat, paved surfaces. These types of surfaces are very practical for wheels, so you don’t have to worry about carrying anything. These places are usually cities or towns that have established a focus on modernization.

Hand-Held Luggage

Although hand-held luggage isn’t as easy as rolling a suitcase along flat pavement, it does come in handy for some destinations. If you plan on visiting any old cities or towns that are lined with cobblestone streets and uneven pavers, this is the time to use that hand-held luggage. It’s also best to use hand-held luggage when you are visiting remote or underdeveloped places.
