Japan is one of the most exciting countries in the world, but it’s never more beautiful than in cherry blossom season. Known as Sakura, the pink and white spectacle lasts from March to May. If you’re heading to Japan for hanami, these are some things to remember.

It Gets Super Busy

Sakura is the most fashionable time to visit Japan, so expect an influx of people. Because of the large amount of tourists, book your flights, accommodation, and all that jazz as early as possible, especially if you plan to go to popular spots like Tokyo and Kyoto.

Be Flexible With Dates

Flowers do not bloom according to anyone’s schedule but their own. Japan does offer forecasts to predict which blossoms are about to hit their peak and which are passed their prime, but considering the nature of, well, nature, it’s best to have a bit of flexibility with your dates.

See Some Other Stuff, Too

Yes, you are going for the blossoms, but Japan is full of rich experiences. Take some time to visit a Japanese tea house, taste super fresh sushi, admire the architecture, and eat as much ramen as your heart desires!
