Las Vegas is usually people’s first association to Nevada and the only city most people visit while in this state. The majority of other cities are often overshadowed by its fancy hotels and world-class casinos, but there are several cities in Nevada you should consider checking out after Sin City.

Reno

Reno is basically Las Vegas’ younger, less extravagant sibling and most people visit it looking for a similar experience. Casinos are some of its biggest attractions, but you should also consider putting it on your bucket list since it’s located near some of Nevada’s top natural spots, such as Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada.

Virginia City

Located just outside of Reno, Virginia City is one of the boomtowns that were formed during the gold rush of the 1860s. It will win you over with its retro vibe, and it offers some pretty unique experiences, including rides on a trolley or horse-drawn carriages.

Carson City

This may take you by a bit of surprise, but Las Vegas isn’t actually Nevada’s capital. That title actually belongs to Carson City, and that’s one of the main reasons to visit it. It’s home to some of the best museums in the entire state, but most people come here for its surrounding natural wonders, including Lake Tahoe.
