Brussels, the capital of Belgium, is one of those perfect European cities that’s popular enough to have things to do but isn’t on the level of Paris or Rome as far as being overrun by tourists goes. If you’re planning a trip, here are some of the coolest places you’ll want to visit while in the city.

The Grand Place

The main square of Brussels, the Grand Place is absurdly beautiful. With its cobblestone ground and stunning gold-trimmed buildings, it’s seriously breath-taking. In fact, it’s even been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Plus, it’s free, so there’s absolutely no reason not to go check it out.

The Atomium

The Atomium is a massive landmark that stands at over 100 meters tall and has become a symbol for Brussels after it was built for the Brussels World’s Fair in 1958. It represents the composition of an iron crystal and showcases the importance of science. Pretty cool, huh?

Manneken Pis

One of the more humorous landmarks you’ll visit in Brussels, the Mannekin Pis is a statue of a little boy taking a tinkle into the fountain below. It’s a major symbol of the city, is free to visit, and will definitely give you a laugh.
