No matter where you may be flying to, going through airport security is a must for any traveler. Naturally, getting through airport security smoothly will enhance your overall airport experience. Here are some of the “dos and don’ts” that TSA officers have shared to help passengers make flying as smooth as possible.

Don’t: Put Small Items On Trays Individually

When it’s your turn to place your possessions on the tray that goes on the X-ray belt, make sure to keep any small items in your bag as they could always fall off and through the gaps. The last thing you want before a flight is the stress of searching for a missing phone, keys, or plane ticket.

Do: Wear Shoes That Are Easy To Remove

When travelling within the US, you know that removing shoes is a part of the security process. Consider wearing loafers, velcro shoes, or any pair that are easy to untie so as to save time in the security line.

Do: Enroll In TSA PreCheck

By enrolling in this program, you’ll forego the need to remove your shoes, laptops, or liquids from your bag. What’s more, TSA PreCheck lines are known to take 10 minutes or less, meaning you can arrive at your boarding gate sooner.
