WWOOF, pronounced “woof,” stands for the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms, or sometimes Willing Workings on Organic Farms. This is an organization that connects people who don’t mind getting their hands dirty and enjoy working with local farmers in return for free housing and sometimes board.
WWOOFing is an amazing opportunity for people who love to travel but don’t always have the means to do so. So if you’re one of these people, why not knock off a big expense from your trip and spend some time WWOOFing?
WWOOFing is so cool because there are farms that participate in the organization all over the globe, which really gives you a lot of flexibility. All you have to do is sign up for it and pay about $20 for a membership. After that, everything is totally free. Not only can you explore places you never thought you’d go, but you can find places to go you’ve never even heard of.
If you’re someone who’s interested in food or agriculture, or even just meeting local people from around the world, WWOOF is for you. You get to see everything up close and personal, and you will gain so much knowledge by stepping out of your comfort zone and trying to WWOOF.
