Austin is the state capital of Texas, home to many wonderful attractions, but none of them compares to Zilker Metropolitan Park. In addition to being a hub for all sorts of recreational activities, Zilker is home to some of Austin’s top attractions—starting with these three.

Barton Springs Pool

Barton Springs Pool is one of the crown jewels of Zilker Park, and it’s fed by water from the surrounding natural springs. You don’t have to be in Austin in spring or summer to enjoy this pool—it’s amazing for year-round swimming because it has an average temperature of 68-70 degrees.

Austin Nature & Science Center

Zilker Metropolitan Park is home to countless family-friendly attractions, but if you’re looking for one that also happens to be educational, this science center is the place to be. It covers impressive 80 acres and offers a wide range of fun exhibits, including replicas of fossils and dinosaur tracks.

Zilker Botanical Garden

One of the top spots for nature lovers visiting Zilker, this botanical garden covers 31 acres of this expansive park. One of its top attractions is a Taniguchi Japanese Garden with koi and lily pond, but many other historic gardens can be found on its premises.
