Whether you’ve been together for a month or two years, going away with your partner for the first time is a big deal! Emotions often range from excitement to nervousness (hopefully more of the former than the latter), but with any luck—and a few tips—your romantic getaway will be outstanding.

Say No to Solo Planning

In most relationships, one person is more of a planner than the other. While it may be tempting to let this person make all the decisions, it is important to confer with each other so both parties have a say and are on the same page. Try not to overload your itinerary as overexerting yourselves can cause stress which will result in conflict.

Create a Budget

Studies have shown that money is one of the top things that couples argue about. In order to prevent this during your trip, make a budget and stick to it. The budget should not just focus on big items like flights and accommodations, but meals and daily spending too.

Take a Breather

As much as you love someone, spending every second together can be intense and overwhelming. Taking some time apart can be good for keeping the peace and works especially well if you have different interests. It also offers an opportunity to share your experiences with each other when you reunite.
