While many of us probably associate the northeastern part of the state of Ohio with cities like Cleveland and Akron, there is a hidden variety of charming small towns that offer up a great place to kick back and relax. On your next trip to northeast Ohio, be sure to make time to visit these three towns!

Oberlin

This peaceful university town of under 10,000 residents is located southwest of Cleveland and features a walkable, charming downtown area. The campus of Oberlin College, the Allen Memorial Art Museum, and the Oberlin Heritage Center are all sports worth checking out!

Put-in-Bay

Lake Erie is the natural gem of the northeast Ohio region, and Put-in-Bay is arguably its best town. Located on an island in the lake and accessible via ferry service from Sandusky, you’ll find a boardwalk and Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial here, commemorating an American win in the War of 1812 and commemorating the following peace between the US, Canada, and the UK.

Rocky River

Are you in Cleveland and looking to get away from the hustle and bustle? Rocky River, a quaint suburb located southwest of the city, is a great town to check out. Beautiful lakeside houses and beaches are part of the charm of this little community.
