40 minutes north of Tokyo, in the city of Saitama, you’ll find Sushi Sansui, a small sushi restaurant run by traditional sushi chefs. Sansui offers a wide range of vegan and vegetarian options made with ingredients like okra, broccoli, and mushrooms.
For a traditional conveyor belt sushi experience, be sure to check out Katsumidori Seibu in the Udagawachō district of Shibuya, Tokyo. Non-vegan guests are free to take fish, while plant-based travelers are free to choose from plates made with cucumber, avocado, and even eggplant.

]]>Cornucopia was plant-based before it was cool, having opened its doors as Dublin’s first vegan market and cafe in 1986. Today, the restaurant remains a 100% family-run business offering a simple, nourishing menu full of whole food plant-based dishes. We love their tofu scramble on toast with a vegan caesar salad on the side.
For coffee, pastries, and light bites, be sure to check out It’s a Trap, a tiny coffee shop and grocery store offering a wide variety of vegan goods from around the world. Their vegan Reuben and Korean BBQ wraps are our favorites for lunch, and a shot of espresso alongside one of their classic cinnamon buns makes for a perfect afternoon pick-me-up.
Don’t let the name fool you—no cows were harmed in the making of any of The Saucy Cow’s food. This restaurant in the city’s Temple Bar neighborhood offers plant-based versions of fast food favorites. Keep it simple with a mushroom burger, or spice things up and try their vegan pulled pork tacos.

Harvest Beat is a fine dining restaurant with a focus on organic and locally sourced ingredients, so its menu changes often to reflect the seasons. Guests can enjoy 5-course prix-fixe meals that are designed to reduce food waste while highlighting a variety of delicious seasonal fruits and veggies.
For out-of-this-world cocktails, mocktails, and bar food, be sure to check out Life on Mars. This vegan restaurant is casual enough for a night out with friends, yet cozy enough for a romantic date night. Whatever the occasion, we recommend trying the cauliflower wings with garlic-butter parmesan.

]]>Thailand, with its abundance of fresh fruit stands and traditional veggie-centric dishes, is one such place, and it’s now home to plenty of completely plant-based cafes and restaurants as well. Here are some of the best ones we’ve found:
This family-owned cafe in Bangkok has been open for 10 years and in that time has become a staple for vegan locals and tourists alike. The menu takes a health-motivated approach toward veganism and includes simple dishes like soups, salads, and sandwiches. The owners also host gatherings at the cafe for those looking to socialize and meet other vegans.
For vegan versions of just about any dish imaginable, be sure to visit The Vegan Table in Phuket. Offerings range from fresh-squeezed juices to avocado toast to vegan pizza and more. We especially love their vegan cheesecake for dessert.
Reform is one of our favorite places to eat when we’re in the mood for authentic Thai food dishes such as khao soi, a coconut curry soup with noodles. It’s set in a quaint little garden in the Green Tiger Guest House, an entirely plant-based hotel in Chiang Mai.

]]>As easy as it might be in much of the world to find vegan food, vegan food free of garlic and onions, which are a rare but not unheard of allergen, is much harder to come by. We love nomVnom for their allergy-friendly, plant-based takes on indulgent classics such as burgers and pizza.
Love Handle is Asia’s first plant-based butcher shop and deli, offering vegan versions of favorites ranging from beef steak to calamari. We love their deli for hearty dishes like chick’n & pancakes and truffle fries.
The Kind Bowl has three locations around Singapore and offers plant-based takes on Asian cuisine such as pho, noodles, and banh mi. Their pho has even been ranked as the best vegan dish in Singapore by social media platform abillion.

]]>Leafy greens have never tasted so good. While these kale chips are certainly not an entree, they are a great way to start your meal. Think of them as an alternative to tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant, except coated in a deliciously flavorful vegan cheese.
Smothered in truffle mayo and vegan cheddar, this burger is the perfect way to indulge without feeling like you’ve paid a price after. It pairs splendidly with sweet potato fries and is served on a whole spelt or a gluten-free bun.
Seafood lovers can enjoy a bit of everything with this dish of fish tacos done three ways. It includes yellowfin tuna, salmon, and hiramasa tacos each served with different fillings on tricolor corn shells.

]]>Not only is everything at this pizza shop incredible, but most of the ingredients used are also organic and the dough used to make their wood-fired crust undergoes a 48-hour fermentation process to make it more easily digestible. You can’t go wrong with any of their pizzas, but we love the spinach and Greek varieties.
Another shop that uses organic ingredients as much as possible, Veganista is owned by two sisters with a passion for veganism and for ice cream. They have 12 locations around the city and offer 18 flavors every day. The blueberry lavender and matcha are our favorites.
Tian Bistro
If you’re looking for a more upscale dining experience while in Vienna, be sure to make a reservation at Tian Bistro. Come hungry and enjoy the chef’s tasting menu full of seasonal dishes that highlight fresh, local ingredients.

]]>Named for their address at HaArba St. 16 (HaArba translating to “four”) this restaurant is a paradise for anyone looking for a rich and indulgent meal. Everything on the menu is delicious and designed to be shared, and we especially recommend the fettuccini alfredo. It’s made with coconut cream and rich enough to satisfy even the biggest cheese-lover.
HaHatul HaYarok as it’s known in Hebrew, meaning, “The Green Cat,” is an entirely vegan pizza restaurant located on Levontin St. Unlike other pizza places who often use pre-made soy-based cheese substitutes, this restaurant makes their own cheese daily out of cashews. Top it off with any of their fresh and unique toppings, like vegan pepperoni, and you’re good to go.
With a focus on local, seasonal fare, Bana offers a somewhat lighter dining experience than other vegan restaurants in Tel Aviv, although the rich and savory Oyster Mushroom with Garlic Confit over Baked Potatoes would have you fooled. This restaurant is very vegetable-forward and doesn’t offer too much in the way of imitation meats and cheeses, and instead lets the produce shine on its own.
