The post The Coffee Culture Around The Globe; Italy, Vietnam and Brazil appeared first on Traveler Dreams.
]]>The formation of culture around coffee and coffee houses dates back to the 14th Century in Turkey. Coffee houses in Western Europe were traditionally social places, as well as artistic and intellectual centers. Today it is more like a social activity, a working location or a meeting place for most of the people.
The style of coffee varies by country. Here are three out of the most famous coffee cultures around the globe:
ITALY
Coffee is simply part of the Italian culture but it is not as easy as it seems. The coffee culture in Italy comes with a set of rules. Firstly, it is usually drank while standing, which does not occur in the United States. Then, they also have different rules such as, milky coffee must be consumed in the morning and never following a meal, or other Italians may say they have to drink it before a meal to clean the palate or after a meal to refresh.
VIETNAM
French colonists might have introduced coffee to Vietnam, but the cup of ca phé soon became a local habit. Vietnamese coffee has developed a style of its own with the use of yoghurt, eggs and even fruits. The preparations process and the blending of the beans is different from any other countries as well. The grounded beans go into a French dip filter, which sits on top of the cup. The beans are weighted down with a thin lid, hot water is added to the filter and then the water slowly trickles through into the cup.
BRAZIL
Brazil is the world’s largest producer and is responsible for about a third of all coffee. Brazilians are big coffee drinkers and tend to drink numerous small cups of coffee throughout the day. Because the coffee beans are produced at lower altitudes than the average coffee plantation, they have a more bitter quality. Therefore, Brazilians tend to drink their coffee quite sweet.
