While the United States is certainly not the only producer of apples in the world, it is the second largest in terms of quantity, on average producing over 80 million tons per year. Many of these apples end up being sold in grocery stores or get exported to other countries, but some remain on trees a bit longer, waiting to be picked. Apple picking in the fall is an American pastime, and it’s definitely something we always look forward to. It’s a perfect opportunity to get out of the house for some fresh air and support your local farmers at the same time. Whether you make it a group outing or a romantic date activity, you’re sure to have fun. Here are some of the best places to pick apples around the US:

Best in the East – Beak and Skiff

Beak and Skiff apple orchard in Lafayette, New York was rated the best in the US in 2021. It’s a family-owned orchard over 100 years old, so they must be doing something right. They grow several varieties of apples and also host fun festivals and events throughout the season.

Best in the South – Mercier Orchards

This orchard in Blue Ridge, Georgia grows over 50 varieties of apples that can be picked during their You-Pick apple event every fall. For those who prefer to enjoy from the sidelines, a bakery on the property offers pastries like apple hand pies and cider made with fruit grown on the orchard.

Best in the Midwest – Deal’s Orchard

Deal’s is another family-run orchard located in the town of Jefferson, Iowa. They grow dozens of different apple varieties and use some of them to make their own homemade cider. In the fall, they offer pick-your-own events as well as other seasonal activities for kids.

Europe is an absolutely gorgeous continent with so many different things to see and places to visit. But, for that reason, it’s also one of the most touristy continents, especially if you go to the most popular cities like Paris and Rome. So if you prefer a less crowded holiday, you may want to check out one of these three cities.

Lake Ohrid, North Macedonia

A country in Southeast Europe, North Macedonia isn’t very well-known among international tourists, having only gotten its independence in 1991. Locals do love to visit Lake Ohrid, though, because they know about the beauty of its cozy, atmospheric lake and mountain views.

Puglia, Italy

Sure, many, many people like to go to Italy on vacations, but most of those people aren’t visiting Puglia, a city in Italy’s south. But they should, because Puglia’s rocky beaches, rich history, and delicious food make it a great place to go to.

Kakheti, Georgia

Not only are people sleeping on Georgia, but many people don’t even know that it’s a country and not just a U.S. state. But Kakheti has got a lot to offer visitors, with gorgeous mountain scenery, wineries, churches, and castles.

Have you ever seen an alligator before? These slithery reptiles are one of the most famous animals that can be found in the southern United States, tending to reside in delta and swamp environments with calm water and warm temperatures. While big and scary-looking, these animals can be observed in the wild and do not pose any danger if you don’t move towards them aggressively. Here are three places in the U.S. where you can catch a sight of these creatures in the wild.

Everglades National Park (Florida)

Arguably the most famous place to see alligators in the United States is in Everglades National Park in South Florida, offering boating, hiking, and camping to visitors. This swamp environment brims with alligators, who can often be seen poking their heads out of the water as they stalk their prey.

Mobile-Tensaw River Delta (Alabama)

Alligators can also be found in Alabama, specifically in the vast delta region of Mobile-Tensaw which is a great place to take your boat out for a ride. Keep your eyes out for alligators, which can often be found hanging around plants where they can be partially camouflaged.

Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge (Georgia)

The Okefenokee Swamp is protected in south George in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge and is another spot where alligators abound. These wetlands are accessible by boat and have been unchanged for thousands of years, providing an optimal virgin environment for these magical creatures to thrive.

Georgia is a beautiful country—rich in culture, food, and wine. A trip to Tbilisi and its surroundings in the fall season offers an experience of landscapes, culture, and food.

It is recommended to ascend to a beautiful observation point from the sculpture of Vakhtang Gorgasali. The area is especially beautiful at night, when all the forts and churches along the river are illuminated with lights of varying colors.

From there, it is highly recommended to visit one of the hot springs in the city—in a Turkish bath style or at the traditional baths.

After enjoying a lovely time at the baths, you can pass through the fashionable Sharden Alley, via Sioni Street, towards Liberty Square. This area is a wonderful option for a night out, as it is full of pubs and restaurants.

On the way, you will meet food stalls—including of course the “Churchella,” a yummy sweet Georgian snack that includes walnuts hung on a string and dipped in grape honey.

The food in Tbilisi, as in the rest of Georgia, is simply excellent. Try one of the local pastries stuffed with Georgian cheese or eggplant wrapped in nuts and pomegranates.

During 2019, Tbilisi, the capital of European country Georgia, was visited by the highest number of tourists ever. This is the second year in a row that Tbilisi has broken the records for the number of visitors. In 2018, it hosted over 3.6 million guests, and that number grew by 15.7% in the first three quarters of 2019.

Who are the tourists who come to Tbilisi? They’re mostly from Europe, specifically Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and England. They’re people who want to explore new places on city breaks, and Tbilisi has plenty of things to offer.

The city has celebrated this achievement with a light spectacle for the New Year, which cost over 4 million euros. This attracted more tourists to come celebrate the New Year in Georgia’s capital, which leads to a crowded and festive atmosphere in the city.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B679A2GD8u_/

The city expects the number of people coming there to keep growing, so they have big plans for 2020. If you want an unusual European experience this year, Tbilisi is definitely a city you should consider.

Some of the factories in Tbilisi have been repurposed and now they are exclusive places that you’ll fall in love with. Hotels, galleries, stores, and bars are some of the things that gave a second life to these old buildings. Rooms Hotel is the most famous one, but you can also check out Wine Factory N1. According to a legend, the latter has wine collections that belonged to Napoleon and Stalin.

Dry Bridge Flea Market is the perfect place if you want to explore the local culture. Here you can find almost anything from the 19th century, so you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a time machine. Among other things, you can find European porcelain and artworks, and maybe learn a thing or two about their history from the vendors.

Tbilisi’s remarkable architecture is also worth exploring. You can join some of the many tours available, visit the suburbs and enjoy the spirit of this mesmerizing city!

Georgia (not the US state) is a country found in the Balkan region of Europe. It’s most famous for its beautiful Brutalist architecture and ancient history back when it was part of the USSR.

The beautiful country of Georgia is home to many pastry dishes and cheese-filled meals usually prepared with a salty and hard cheese called Sulguni.

Georgia is a place not to be missed when visiting the Balkans and is close to the neighboring countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan and more. If you’re looking to visit an exotic country in Europe where West meets East – visit Georgia and try their amazing Khachapuri.

Similar to Cheese Pizzas

Khachapuri has many versions, including Adjarian Khachapuri that resembles a boat-like pastry where a cube of butter is placed on top of a bed of cheese and eggs. Then there’s the pizza-style khachapuri that would be great for sharing with friends and family.

Tastes Homemade

If you have the privilege of visiting this ancient country, all the Georgians will tell you that their grandma makes the best Khachapuri, and they may be right. The process of making this pastry takes a lot of effort to knead the dough and shape the bread. It’s truly a labor of love that needs lots of attention.

The city expects the number of people coming there to keep growing, so they have big plans for 2020. If you want an unusual European experience this year, Tbilisi is definitely a city you should consider.

If you want to visit a truly unique place that not many people know about, Tbilisi is the place for you. The capital city of Georgia has a rich and complex history that will fascinate any traveler, and it’s full of architectural gems and peculiar places that you can’t see anywhere else.
