From the Colosseum to Vatican City and a wealth of palaces and museums, Rome is a city of remarkable history. It thus makes sense for you to want to take a little piece of the Italian capital home with you at the end of your trip. Here are some of the best markets where you can buy authentic Roman souvenirs.

Porta Portese

Located near the ancient city gate of Porta Portese, this market is an ideal place to browse affordable clothes and souvenirs. With its traditional flea market feel, the Porta Portese Market is filled with rare items, including Italian-made jewellery and fine Chinese porcelain. This market is open on Sundays from 7 am until 2 pm.

Fontanella Borghese Market

If you love literature, then there’s no better place to peruse than this bustling market. Open from 9 am to 7 pm from Monday through to Saturday, the Fontanella Borghese Market is home to vintage books and artwork. There are also vintage maps, used cameras, and classic magazines.

Borghetto Flaminio Market

Every Sunday from 10 am until 7 pm, you can find a trove of designer clothes and accessories at reasonable prices at the Borghetto Flaminio Market. This is because the market is filled with second-half possessions of some of Rome’s most elite citizens. If you’re looking for legitimate products from high-end brands such as Armani and Gucci at an affordable price, then this is the market for you.

Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, is a super popular tourist destination, much thanks to its rich cultural history, its important religious landmarks, and its diverse social fabric. But other than all those big and heavy concepts that the Holy City embodies, it’s also just a really fun place to hang out in. Downtown Jerusalem in particular is a bustling hub of shops, cafés, and restaurants combining the old with the new. One of the most attractive spots in this area for both locals and tourists is the Mahane Yehuda market.

The vibrant, colorful market, active throughout the week from Sunday to Friday, is filled with an incredible variety of food and drink stands alongside clothing, shoes, and souvenirs.

If you’re a foodie, you won’t be able to get enough of the endless options this market has to offer. Among other things, the Mahane Yehuda market is a great place to get fresh groceries like fruits and vegetables, fish, cheese, spices, and baked goods. But the real tourist attraction is the market’s culinary scene, including local foods like falafel, shawarma, and kanafeh alongside top-notch restaurants, cafés, and bars.

The market even has a vivid nightlife scene, and if you visit it after dark, you’ll find some great spots to get a drink or listen to some live music too.

On a trip to Marrakech, Morocco, you will walk among magical desert landscapes, fascinating ancient cities, and colorful and crowded markets.

The recommended season in Morocco is in the spring—in the months of March-May—or the fall—in the months of September-November. It is best to avoid a trip during the month of Ramadan, because the cafes and restaurants are closed during the day.

The ancient city (Medina) of Marrakech is a fascinating cultural mosaic, which can be seen in the main square Djemaa el Fna, bustling with life day and night with food stalls, thousands of snakes, magicians, and jugglers.

Take a walk in the Menara Gardens, see the tall tower of the Koutoubia Mosque, visit the Saadian Tombs, decorated with beautiful tiles, and stroll through the ruins of the Palais El-Badi.

Also, you should visit The Mellah (the Jewish Quarter)—the Old Synagogue, and the Palais de la Bahia with ceramic tiles, tour the streets of the colorful market, and visit the impressive Ben Youssef Medersa.

Morocco has an amazing cultural and artistic tradition, a combination of East and West, Islam, Judaism and Christianity, an Arab and Berber population, and good food. we’re sure you are going to love it.

The Toyosu Shijo fish market is the next generation of the Tsukiji Fish Market.

It is the same fish market—only in a new location—built inside a huge structure on an artificial island in Tokyo Bay.

The market opened on October 11th, 2018 and currently houses the main wholesale activity in the market—including the famous auctions.

This is the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world, and one of the largest markets in the world of any kind. The market sells over 400 different types of fish and seafood!

The main tourist attraction in the market are the auctions. The market opens every morning (except on Sundays and holidays and certain Wednesdays), at 3am, when goods from all over the world are unloaded from ships and planes and transported to the market in refrigerated trucks.

Wholesalers take place at the auction houses, known in Japanese as “Oroshi Gyosha.” Buyers licensed to participate in the auctions examine the fish to assess which fish they would like to buy and at what price.

The auctions start at 5am and you can watch them from a viewing position on the second floor.

Location: 6 Chome-6-1 Toyosu, Koto City, Tokyo 135-0061, Japan

Opening times: 4:30am to 5pm.

Closed on Sundays, national holidays and Wednesdays alternately.

For those who have been privileged to visit this free-spirit city, a once-in-a-lifetime experience awaits. There’s an infinite number of beautiful locations in Tel Aviv, but there are some of the most special ones.

Carmel Market

The Carmel Market is one of the most colorful and beautiful places in Israel. The food, fruit, and vegetables from all over the country come together in this old market. Located in the heart of the city, close to the beach and numerous restaurants, this market is one of a kind.

Kerem Hateymanim

Located adjacent to the market is the historic Kerem Hateymanim neighborhood. This neighborhood has picturesque alleys, eateries, cafes, old workshops, and modern designer shops.

The Mac Factory in Camden Market, London, only has one thing on their menu: macaroni and cheese. Fortunately, they mastered their specialty pretty well. The place is so popular among tourists and locals alike that it goes through 30 tons of Cheddar cheese per year!

“We came up with this idea in about 2014. We had a vision to change people’s perception of mac ‘n’ cheese from the old diner classic, the old canteen staple, the ready-made mac ‘n’ cheese that people thought it was a bit naff,” founder Graham Bradbury told Business Insider. “We wanted to reinvent it and bring something fresh to the UK with the flavors of the mac ‘n’ cheese bringing it out there.”

The Mac Factory serves up six delicious mac and cheese options with all different toppings, including pesto, jalepenos, mushrooms, chorizo and chili con carne.

The food stall uses a rich béchamel base to start off all of their mac and cheeses and mixes it with Cheddar cheese, mozzarella, salt, pepper, and parsley. Last but not least, all flavors are topped with a signature, mouthwatering Parmesan herb crumble.

The Fira de Bellcaire, or more popularly known as Els Encants Vells (the Spanish phrase for Old Charms), is the largest flea market in Barcelona and one of the oldest markets in Europe. It first opened in the 13th century and has since changed multiple locations.

In 2013, it finally settled by the Plaça de Les Glòries Catalanes, known as the “new” center of Barcelona, opposite the Agbar Tower.

What makes this market an impressive place to see is its architecture. A multileveled platform and a 33,306 meter squared radiant mirrored canopy was designed by architect Fermin Väzquez and today stands as one of the most beautiful modern market buildings in Europe.

The open-air structure preserves the old market’s outdoor atmosphere, while the roof serves as protection from the sun and rain. It is a building without walls and is made accessible from all sides, in order to prevent big crowds.

The market is visited by 100,000 people every week and has become a popular tourist spot. It makes for an exciting shopping experience, where you can hunt for unique vintage and antique items, as well as clothes, housewares, jewelry, tools, cosmetics, and textiles.

The market is brimming with second-hand goods but offers a big variety of new products for sale as well. If you enjoy a good shopping experience but love to stay outside, make sure not to miss it on your next trip to Barcelona.

Tel Aviv is a stunning city. In this lively 24/7 city, you can find great markets, beaches, excellent food, and nightlife.

Nahalat Binyamin Street

A little further down the road is Nahalat Binyamin Street, where a handicraft and art market takes place twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. This beautiful street, studded with embroidery and fabric stores, offers juice stalls where you can buy a refreshing fruit smoothie on a hot day out in the city.

Great Synagogue of Tel Aviv

On the nearby Allenby Street, you will find the Great Synagogue of Tel Aviv, an old and historic building and right next to it there are some excellent restaurants that offer an outdoor seating experience alongside the lively street.
