Nature lovers should check out botanic gardens in each country they go to, and Australia is home to quite a few. They can be found in most of the major cities you can explore while traveling through the Land Down Under, and here are three that you shouldn’t miss for the world.

Royal Botanic Gardens (Sydney)

Sydney is Australia’s biggest metropolis, so it’s not a surprise it’s home to one of its most impressive botanical gardens. This 30-hectare green oasis has been around for over two centuries, and it’s one of the most important historic botanical gardens in the entire world, with a wide range of native and exotic species.

Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (Melbourne)

This botanic garden in Melbourne opened its doors all the way back in 1846, and it’s safely tucked away on the south side of the Yarra River. Lawns, lakes, and walking paths can be found on its premises, together with 1,500 different species of plants divided into 30 collections.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden (Perth)

One of Perth’s top tourist attractions, Kings Park and Botanic Garden is a sight to behold. It overlooks the Swan river and Perth’s central business district, and it’s home to everything from war memorials to an 18-hectre botanic garden with thousands of native plant species.

Andretti Thrill Park

If your children are more thrill-seekers, then perhaps they’d be more interested in something like a theme park. Andretti Thrill Park has got all kinds of fun attractions such as Go-Karts and mini roller coasters. There’s no denying that your kids will have a blast if you take them there, and hey, you might find yourself having a good time yourself!

If you’re looking for amazing street art in each new city you visit, Melbourne won’t leave you disappointed. Street artists in this Australian metropolis joined forces to work on a project called Flash Forward and transformed some of the city’s most iconic laneways into works of art.

The main idea behind this project was to showcase Melbourne’s creative culture and unlock “the previously hidden potential of some of the city’s lesser-known laneways.” In order to make it happen, the City of Melbourne partnered up with the Victorian Government and brought together over 80 creatives of different styles and backgrounds.

They embarked on this artistic journey with one goal in mind—revitalizing 40 of Melbourne’s historic laneways by using lighting, music, and creative installations to transform them into unique works of art. By doing so, they managed to breathe new life into some of the long-forgotten corners of Melbourne and turned them into picture-perfect attractions.

Flash Forward remains one of Melbourne’s best-hidden secrets, but it’s easy to find the laneways once you’re aware of their existence. Rainbow Alley, Langs Lane, and Ulster Lane are some of the most iconic spots included in this project, but the list goes on. You can find it on Flash Forward’s official website, with an interactive map taking you to each artwork.

Melbourne is Australia’s second largest city in terms of population and third largest city in size, but it often gets overlooked as a tourist destination. Sydney brings in crowds looking to see its iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge, and nature-lovers flock to the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. Still, Melbourne has no shortage of attractions to offer travelers of all kinds. The city has its own rich culture, history, and some of the best coffee you’ll ever taste. Here are a few of our favorite things to do whenever we find ourselves in this part of the Land Down Under.

Royal Botanical Gardens

These stunning gardens cover 38 hectares of land across Melbourne and Cranbourne and are a must-see for those in the area. The property includes trees, gardens, lakes, and lawns year-round while other attractions such as light shows are put up seasonally.

Queen Victoria Market

Kill two birds with one stone by exploring this 140-year-old historic landmark as you simultaneously shop for food and souvenirs. The market is open five days a week and food tours are held biweekly.

National Gallery of Victoria

One of the best ways to get to know a city is through its art and this art museum in Melbourne does not disappoint. Entry to the museum is free, though special exhibitions may cost extra.

Melbourne has something in store for travelers from all walks of life and art lovers will be especially impressed by it. This Australian metropolis has many amazing art museums and galleries in store and here are some of the very best.

National Gallery of Victoria

If you only have enough time to visit a single gallery while in Melbourne, this one should make the cut. It’s Australia’s oldest and most visited art museum and it features an impressive collection of Australian and international art.

Heide Museum of Modern Art

Not all of Melbourne’s best galleries and museums are located in the city center. If you’re happy to look a little bit further on your quest to find its most impressive art centers, check out the Heide Museum of Modern Art. It’s located in the suburb of Bulleen and it’s best known for its impressive sculpture garden.

Hosier Lane

If classic museums and galleries simply aren’t your thing, and you prefer artistic spaces with a more urban feel, it doesn’t get much better than Hosier Lane. It’s Melbourne’s No. 1 street art hot spot and its walls are covered with works of art by over a hundred local graffiti and street artists.

Melbourne is home to several Instagram-friendly, sun-kissed beaches, but none of them compares to St Kilda. Located in one of the must-see seaside suburbs of this Australian metropolis, St Kilda Beach has many amazing attractions in store and here are three reasons why you should visit it.

St Kilda Pier

One of the main landmarks of this stunning beach is St Kilda Pier, a historic pier that was built all the way back in 1855. It became one of Melbourne’s icons in the decades to come, and it’s a great place to enjoy breathtaking views of the city and observe little penguins flocking to its shores.

Little Penguins

Speaking of little penguins, there’s an entire colony of around 1,200 of these birds living at St Kilda Beach. Public viewing is one of the most popular activities with tourists and locals alike since it’s one of the best places in Australia to observe them in their natural habitat.

Recreational Activities

Most people coming to St Kilda are there to see the little penguins, but this attraction is—first and foremost—Melbourne’s most popular beach. It has many amazing recreational activities in store, including walking, sunbathing, and watersports.

Melbourne is home to many wonders of modern architecture, and Eureka Tower is one of the very best. It’s one of the first places that people check out in this Australian city, and here are three attractions that make it worth the visit.

Melbourne Skydeck

The main reason why so many tourists visit Eureka Tower is the magical Melbourne Skydeck. It occupies its entire 88th floor and offers some of the very best panoramic views in the entire city. One of the most exciting experiences that the Skydeck has in store is the Edge—the glass cube suspended almost 300 meters above the ground.

Voyager Theatre

If you’re in the mood to experience an epic virtual reality adventure while in Melbourne, Voyager Theatre is the place to be. It features virtual reality pod chairs that will take you on an immersive, sensory voyage through some of Melbourne’s most iconic attractions.

Wine and Dine

You should finish your visit to Eureka Tower by having a nice meal and a glass of wine at one of its restaurants and bars. Eureka 89, located on the top floor, is your best bet and it offers curated chef menus to complete your ultimate fine dining experience.
