This business complex is home to some of Santiago’s most notable modern buildings, including a 62-story high-rise Gran Torre Santiago, a six-floor shopping mall, and three more skyscrapers housing hotels and office buildings.
If skyscrapers simply aren’t your thing and you want to explore more grounded, low-key examples of contemporary architecture, the Museum of Memory and Human Rights is the place to be. Its stunning glass-and-copper was designed by a group of Brazilian architects from the firm Estudio America.
Santiago Bahá’í Temple was designed by Canadian architect Siamak Hariri, and it won many awards over the years. Like all Baháʼí houses of worship, this one is circular and nine-sided. It comes with nine entrances, nine pathways, and nine fountains, while its sides are meant to resemble sails separated by glass, allowing the light to come in.
