]]>Mexico is a fun option if you want to plan a travel night at home, and it really isn’t that hard to do! Check out how to plan a trip to Mexico at home in three steps.
The first step to making yourself feel like you are in Mexico is to cook your favorite dish from the country’s fantastic gastronomical array. Search the internet for the recipe if you do not already know how to make it, and be sure to pair it with Mexican cerveza or one of the many other well-known drinks from the country.
As you eat and mingle with friends and/or family, one great way to set the mood is by choosing a soundtrack that will make you feel like you are south of the border. Whether it is Luis Miguel, Selena, or your favorite mariachi band, this will help you really feel like you have traveled there.
Mexico is represented on the silver screen by excellent directors such as Alejandro González Iñárritu and Alfonso Cuarón who have brought scenes from their home country that come to life in films such as Roma and Amores Perros. After you have eaten, listened to music, and relaxed, traveling to Mexico on the big screen is a great way to cap off your virtual travel day.

]]>One way to get your travel fix while staying at home is with virtual reality tours, something that is made even more fun, immersive, and interactive with the help of a VR headset.
Virtual reality is becoming more and more commonplace to find, and plenty of tourist attractions have spent the past year or so uploading virtual tours of their spots that can be seen using VR devices.
Headsets, available from companies such as Oculus at a price point ranging between $300 and $500, are still a relatively new market addition but a great investment for all kinds of applications in the future.
Virtual travel is one of my favorite things to use a VR headset for, as it completely immerses you in the sights and sounds of a different place, all from the comfort of your own home.
Would you give travel through a virtual reality headset a try?

]]>One of my favorite virtual tours I have discovered recently is a tour of the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
The Grand Canyon National Park is the home to one of the most recognizable natural wonders in the United States. The most common route used to hike the Grand Canyon is the Bright Angel Trail, which begins on the canyon’s South Rim and leads all the way down to the Colorado River.
This eight-mile long trail is one of the newest virtual treks Google Maps has made available in a 100% virtual format.
Doing this hike in real life is difficult and strenuous—with a sixteen-mile round trip, a 10% average grade, and unpredictable and varied temperatures making it a hike that’s best for experienced trekkers.
Whether or not you have this type of expertise, observing the burnt red natural landscape and the Colorado River coursing through the canyon on this virtual trek can be done from the safety and comfort of your own home. It’s a brilliant way to lose yourself in one of the most impressive places on Earth.
So, if you find yourself with wanderlust and a desire to seek out something new while you’re at home, a visit to the Grand Canyon National Park and a hike on its Bright Angel Trail might just be the remedy you were looking for.

]]>The Appalachian Trail in West Virginia is a location that attracts many visitors every year. This year, however, everything’s different so the trail has been mostly empty. Thanks to a new app called Walk the Distance, you can transfer your daily steps into the distance on the trail as if you were walking there.
The app comes with a social aspect and allows you to compete with other people. It will show your picture pinned in the place you’ve reached on Google Maps graphics. That way you can see where your friends are at and how you compete to them.
The app will add up the steps you take every day until you walk the entire trail that’s 2,200 miles long. You can use it as a motivation to move more on a daily basis and reach the goal faster.
