Every country has its own preferences when it comes to coffee culture. While some countries in particular, like Italy and Brazil, are more famously regarded as having some of the best coffee in the world, other countries like South Korea are not to be overlooked. The capital city of Seoul in particular is full of unique cafes that serve some of the most delicious and high-quality coffee available.

943 Kings Cross

For the Harry Potter fan in all of us, South Korea may not be the first place you’d think to look for such a magical-themed coffee shop, but this cafe located right in the heart of Seoul is full of pleasantly whimsical touches. From “Dragon’s Blood” syrups to Wizard’s Chess-inspired decor, you’re sure to find something you’ll love at this 6-story shop straight out of Hogwarts. Espresso Patronum!

Sahara Cafe at Soongsil University

You won’t find much about this hidden gem on Google or social media. They have no website or Instagram page but are still a go-to for locals and students of Soongsil University where the cafe is located. Their selection is small but the quality is high, and with everything under 5000 won (about $4.50 USD) it’s a great option for any traveler on a budget.

Jamggodae

This cafe, offering three different roasts of coffee, is almost unanimously regarded as the best coffee in South Korea by travelers from all over the world (and the internet). Every cup is freshly brewed by the owner himself, and the environment is warm and friendly, filled with books and vintage posters. Bring your laptop or a good book and stay awhile with their famous Dutch Iced Coffee.

Seoul, South Korea, offers a lot of fascinating attractions that should entice you to visit this gem of East Asia. However, the experience becomes much more special if you’re a BTS fan because the city offers a unique opportunity to explore attractions and locations dedicated to one of the world’s most popular music acts. Check out the must-see attractions in Seoul for BTS fans.

Yoojung Sikdang

You can’t go exploring on an empty belly, so the best place to start is Yoojung Sikdang restaurant. The establishment is famous for being the go-to place for BTS before they were famous as it was near their dance studio. The restaurant offers a variety of traditional Korean dishes, but we recommend grilled black pork belly, which was reportedly one of the favorite menu items for the band members.

The Min’s

After getting a filling meal, head to The Min’s. Owned by K-pop star Changmin, the café was frequently visited by BTS members, who enjoyed some cherryade and lemonade and has their photos and autographs plastered all around.

BTS Pop-Up Stores

If you want to get your hands on some BTS merch or just browse, then visit one of the band’s pop-up stores in Seoul. BTS frequently surprises its fans by opening pop-up stores that offer collectibles, limited edition items and albums. The most recent is the BTS POP-UP: Map Of The Soul store located in Utama Shopping Centre, which provides an immersive experience on three floors.

Lotte World Star Avenue

At the Lotte World Star Avenue you’ll find the handprints of all BTS members forever etched in metal. The place also offers plenty of other content devoted to K-pop’s biggest stars like photos, memorabilia, and holograms.

The capital of South Korea is a huge city which is why it can be extremely hard for first-time visitors to choose the best neighborhood to stay in in Seoul. Each of these districts have their pros and cons and your choice will depend on what you’re looking for as a tourist, but here are three neighborhoods in Seoul that are often considered best for tourists.

Itaewon

Itaewon is a district that’s well-known for its vibrant nightlife and friendly attitude towards tourists, which makes it a perfect neighborhood for younger tourists who love to party. Here you can find plenty of excellent restaurants, bars, clubs, and cafés that will make your stay in Seoul unforgettable.

Insadong

This is one of the oldest neighborhoods that’s located in the center of the city and close to many attractions. It’s also the best place to stay for families and people who want a more relaxed vacation. Even if you don’t choose Insadong as your base make sure to visit this area because it’s a must-see for everyone who wants to learn more about Korean tradition and culture.

Gangnam

This is by far the most iconic and richest area in Seoul that’s perfect for tourists with an expensive taste. If you want to shop at luxury stores, spot celebrities, and “live a life” of rich and famous, Gangnam is the perfect base.

After two films spent in Portland, Oregon, Lara Jean finally stepped out of her comfort zone in To All The Boys: Always and Forever and visited Seoul with her family. Several iconic spots in the South Korean capital were used as a backdrop for this teen rom-com, and these three definitely deserve a spot on your bucket list.

Greem Café

Remember that black and white 2D café from the opening scene that look like something you only get to see in the movies? It turns out that it’s a real place you can actually visit—and it’s one of Seoul’s most Instagrammable attractions thanks to its quirky design.

Gwangjang Market

Visiting Seoul without exploring its rich and colorful street food scene is like never going at all. If you’re want to try some of the most popular Korean delicacies in one place, head to the iconic Gwangjang Market, just like Lara Jean and her family.

N Seoul Tower

Many cities around the world have a spot where enamored couples flock to leave a padlock with their names behind. Seoul is no exception, and one of the most memorable movie scenes in this city shows Lara Jean and her sisters looking for a padlock with their parents’ names at the roof terrace of N Seoul Tower.

Tourism in South Korea has been on the rise in the last few years, especially thanks to the surge in popularity of Korean popular culture around the world. If you’re thinking of putting this country on your bucket list, here are five cities you shouldn’t miss during your visit.

Seoul

Most people start their journey through South Korea from its capital of Seoul. Modern skyscrapers, ancient temples, and busy, vibrant streets co-exist in perfect harmony in this lively city.

Busan

South Korea’s second-most populous city will win you over with its picturesque beaches and parks, which rank as the most beautiful in the entire country.

Incheon

Incheon is one of South Korea’s major transportation hubs, but it’s worth sticking around thanks to the many tiny islands and beautiful beaches you’ll find nearby.

Daegu

If hanging out on the beaches and exploring skyscrapers simply isn’t your thing, get ready to explore the mountains, parks, and tiny temples of South Korea’s “Apple City”.

Daejeon

South Korea’s fifth-largest metropolis is pretty low-key when compared with Seoul and Busan, and it will win you over with its natural beauty and cultural heritage.

For the foodies out there, no visit to a cosmopolitan city is complete without sampling the street food on offer. Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, is known for its various historical sites, shopping, and nightlife. However, its street food scene is just as good as Bangkok’s or Osaka’s. When you hit the streets of Seoul, here are the foods you have to try.

Tteokbokki

The easiest way to describe this street food is as a rice based cake drenched in a spicy red sauce called gochujang. It tastes a bit like a tomato sauce that has hot sauce added to it. These are always very hot, so don’t burn yourself!

Gyeran-bbang

You will see these on every street corner. They are a palm-sized pieces of bread with a baked egg inside. Koreans will grab one of these on their way to work for breakfast.

Gamja Hot Dog

These might look a bit like corn dogs, but they are ten times better. The hot dog is breaded, and then deep-fried hash browns are added to the dough. Then the whole thing is fried again. This is definitely not a healthy treat, but it is a delicious one.

Over the last decade, Seoul has opened itself to the world much more than ever before. This trend influenced not only the food and pop culture but also helped developed the local art. Now the city has some impressive museums and galleries that are definitely worth a visit.

Most of our travel plans for this year have failed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan future trips. If visiting South Korea is on your bucket list (and it definitely should be!), here are three things you can look forward to. Of course, this is just the beginning of a very long list, but these are the things most people would enjoy.

Amazing Architecture

The capital of Korea, Seoul, has so many things you need to see, but the first stroll around the city will make you notice all the incredible architecture. Some of the most prominent buildings are Ewha University, Dongdaemun Plaza, and Kring Kumho Culture Complex.

Food

It’s true that you can get Korean food pretty much everywhere, but Korea is the best place to try some authentic dishes that may not be as popular in the West. You can go for famous Korean barbecue or something different like tteokbokki rice cakes.

Title: 곱창 먹어보는 외국인 lmao This is something that no one really told me about how famous/common they are in South Korea. 곱창 and 막창. They're intestines of I honestly don't know what animal (google says its mostly beef but sometimes pork). Though I've known of their existence through a Korean friend I had, I never expected it to be…big. Then I went to Korea, walked around this not so touristy area around the university and noticed that there's a whole lotta place selling them. So I thought "what's the deal?" and promised myself to try it. Now, I know Indonesians eat innards (?) as well but I honestly never really liked it here, which made me scared to try it when I was in Korea. A few times I researched about the good places (and found one that is apparently very famous?), talked about it to my friends, made promises to try it, but we never had the courage to do so as we keep postponing it lol. So what happened? One day our atti group (similar to buddy in UI) decided we should meet up and have a meal together, and the option to have 곱창/막창 came up. So we went. Yes, it took us a Korean person to guide us there before we finally tried it. And well, I'm glad we did. This is unlike the intestines I've tried here. The 데리야키 막창 especially was very good as the meat was slightly crisp and the sauce was like sweet, caramelized, and a bit smoky. I didnt even know intestines could be grilled to be quite crispy, similar to chicken skin. So after this really long story, what do we learn? Dont be afraid to try! Yes, intestines may sound weird and look weird and you might have never had it all your life, but after trying it turned out to be delicious and we might have missed out on this had we chickened out forever. So let's say what if this turned out to be really disgusting? Well, now you have the experience of trying it and a story to tell. But really, tell me when else are you gonna have something like this? There's even barely any authentic korean bbq around here. So while you have the chance, take it! Yay I feel like my really long caption isnt good enough : D For yall who are curious: This is from 홍곱창 in 회기 area #회기맛집추천 #홍곱창 #koreanfood #koreanbbq #intestinebbq

Gorgeous Nature

Take a trip outside of Seoul to enjoy the beautiful nature of South Korea. If you’re not sure where to go, you can’t go wrong with the Bukhansan National Park. It’s a great place to spend a relaxing day and to explore quiet temples.

SeMa

Seoul Museum of Art is one of the biggest museums in the city. It displays both international and local fine arts. If you plan your visit ahead, you can participate in a free art class that covers the techniques of Korean traditional arts.

Address: 61 Deoksugung-gil, Seosomun-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 8pm

Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Some would say this place is a work of art in itself. This amazing building is the home to many art halls—mostly focused on modern art and design. It also has an incubator for local designers, where they share their works and thoughts.

Address: 281 Eulji-ro, Euljiro 7(chil)-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 7pm

National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

This was the first museum in Korea that opened up to Western art and started displaying contemporary art from other countries. Now it has a good mixture of both local and international work.

Address: 30 Samcheong-ro, Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm
